Default Curve 8330 VZW Trackball LED Question w/ pics..

Please Login to Remove!

I took off my trackball assembly to check out underneath the other day, and I don't think I messed anything up but after putting it back together it's possibly that it's dimmer or there's less light underneath the trackball now. I remember it being brighter than it is now. Basically under the trackball parts, there is only ONE bright white LED on the left sidewall under the ball but no second LED on the right side to even the light out. Is this normal? I can't see an LED bulb on that right side but it doesn't make sense that there isn't a second light on that side to make the light spread evenly under the ball. I attached pics below to show what I mean. I could be imagining things but I'm just checking with you fellow owners. Thanks!

there's supposed to be only one light on one side? I could've sworn I read differently somewhere for another Curve. It makes no sense that they'd have the light be all uneven like that hmmm..

Hope you did not void your warranty on a fairly new device.

That's not normal. There's suppose to be two. (Left/Right)

See my Verizon curve below.

The non CDMA curves I believe have 1 led directly under the ball. With the CDMA version, RIM changed up the design.

Time to get it replaced under warranty.

man, that would be a total bummer if someone were to trace your IP address to your current locale and sent this thread to every Verizon dealer in your area before you could try and make a warranty claim.

luckily this isnt 4chan or somethingawful.com forums.

What could I have done? I don't even see a white bulb there on the right side like I see on the left side..WTF???

Here are macro comparison pics I took of each side.

First is the left side that does have the LED bulb:

Next is the right side where there is no bulb:

Two more of the same thing with the LED on, left side:

right side:

I mean I did not touch the area under the right side where there would be a bulb, what could have happened? I'm so confused, nothing ever broke off or anything like that!

Lol, it was probably never there in the first place.

Just return it due to a manufacturing defect.

You're making a mountain out of a mole hill.

There's nothing wrong with you device.

maybe, but clearly other Verizon Curves DO have two LEDs making for better light behind it. I was just trying to find out if I damaged it or not really, it doesn't really bother me otherwise!

How would you get it replaced? Tell them you took it apart to check? It's most likely a design change. They probably started out with only one (since that's how all the other curves were.) Then they decided to add two since someone complained that it was too dim. It also could have been the other way around. Maybe they decided they didn't need two and reduced it to one. Either way, i'd just forget about it.

looks like he is using a precision zen theme. In the first pics, he is using a modified background that can be found in the Media Section.
