Default 7290 & Sms

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

There's one thing that's bothering me when working with the 7290. When you miss a phone call, you get a phone-icon on top. That's handy! But when I get an SMS I have to open the 'Messages' section and look for SMS messages. That's really nasty! Is there a way around this?

Your device tells you the number of new unread messages, whether email, text or PIN. If you wish to filter the messages area for just SMS, use ALT S.

Personally, I find the SMS implementation much easier (when compared to a regular cell phone)--especially in conjunction with the qwerty keyboard.

@tathepilot: When you are in your root menu, go to the 'phone' menu. Under 'Phone Options' you'll find a setting 'Call Logging' that you can change to 'Show Missed Calls in message List'. This activates the option to show missed calls in the message area but I think it also enables the icon to appear...

@Jase88: I know about the filtering possibilities in the message area. But therefore you need to unlock your phone and go into the message area which is very poor! My kingdom for an 'SMS-icon'!!

I'd rather have the security measures--don't want prying eyes looking at my messages....

I agree, I use SMS all the time for short messages. My 7280 with the keyboard sure makes it easier for us old fellas with arthritis. I just wish BBToday would show SMS messages as well as email (maybe another category or all together in the inbox would be ok).

Hey, I'm not contesting that Jase88. That's not my point. I would just like an SMS icon just as I get an icon when i missed a call. Nothing more...

Gotcha. You could also do what I do: I've changed the audible alert for SMS messages--that way I know it's an SMS, and not an email.

Did that too. Works great when you can hear your phone but it still doesn't help when you're away from it when the SMS arrives.

I guess the firmware doesn't allow this at this time. I'll just get on with my life as it is then... <sigh>
