Where did you get OS 4.2.2.184?
what is the difference between 4.2.2.180 vs 184?

can I still have the myfaves app on the att OS? What will happen to my svc books?

You can load .184 and all will work the same. Follow the instructions that JSanders posted for you.

To be clear,
I have read the initial post several times. As a VZW user, I would like to keep my default ZEN theme but get rid off all my other default themes, including the vendor theme.

Other than removing certain java files, can it be done? Is there any thing else I need to consider. Vendor XML file?

Then make sure you delete all the numbered theme files mentioned in JC's initial post in this thread... and leave all the Dimension themes (four, I think) cods intact. Is your default Zen theme a VZW them? Then you might need to leave the cod with the Verizon vendor code... 105.

Yes, you need to remove the vendor XML file if you OS is not a VZW OS.

Thank you. Three of the dimension (default) themes I wanted to remove. Zen dimension (default) theme I want to keep. The vzw carrier theme is a separate theme which came with the device. I am using a VZW OS on a VZW device.

Those other numbered themes are not in the device.

Honestly, I am not a theme 'xpert, so I err on the cautious side. I've done this memory optimization about 3 doz times now, and once I removed the wrong "bbdimension" cod and my fav theme would not work, so I just leave all four loaded.

But from one who knows... from JC's post...

Edit: If you'd like to just use the Dimension zen theme you can safely remove the bbdimension icon, bbdimension L, and bbdimension today.

For better or worse, I dumped the vendor theme and will leave the three dimension themes alone.

Hello,

I bought a black blackberry pearl 8100 for my girlfriend a few days ago. It stopped receiving calls, as in it will immediately say that she has a missed call. Call logs and text messages are not being deleted as far as we can tell. The memory seems fine and I have performed the above procedure. Oh she can receive and send text and call out, but she cannot receive calls.

Thank you,

Excuse my noobness

Edit: Do not disturb was on, I feel dumb.....

Default Thanks a ton!

Great guide John! I was going crazy to figure out a way to delete the junk third party apps I installed. The damn 8830 doesn't even allow to delete the modules.

It depends on what modules you're referring to. OS modules can't be removed on the device. 3rd party apps can usually be removed unless they were installed with javaloader.

Awesome! However, you can't have 55Mb of free memory. That's the available free memory.

It's all in step number two. You need to download a file and install it to your computer. There are links there to help you find the OS. When you get to Verizon's download site there are a couple of different files there. Make sure you downloade Handheld Device Software. It's different than the desktop Manager software.
