Default Looking for Sprint 8330 Feeback

Please Login to Remove!

I have been scanning this forum since the Spring 8330 came out but have not noticed much feedback from users that have them. I have a few questions for those that might have one.

- Is the browsing experience a little better with the 4.3 OS? I have heard youtube works but that is about it.

- Does the Sprint TV work well and how is that setup, do you have a small selection of "Sprint" tv channels or can you watch CNN and other channels like Fox etc?

- Last but not least, how does the camera work? I believe you can record video but not sure.

- Isn't this the model that will support an 8gb card with the newer os?

- Did they include enhanced playback of the media player such as the equalizer options? I did see this on the Bold which has 4.6os

Thanks for the info

- Browsing experience is the same, yes you tube/ streaming media support.

- Sprint TV works well. As far as channels check out sprint.com for channel lineup...There are different packages and also prem. channel with monthly fee

- Camera works great and video also

- This model and the pearl 8130 will support 8gb cards (I'm Using one) and Stereo A2DP

- No EQ on media player....But did notice bass boost or treble boost option on phone calls

Thanks for the quick reply Micpip, Stereo A2DP is on my 8830 which is great. Are you able to stream video through bluetooth on this device yet? Would you happen to be using this through your car stereo for bluetooth?

The Sprint 8330 is definitely worth the upgrade as I came from the 8703e w/OS 4.2. Here are answers to your questions:
1. The browsing is a HUGE improvement! I was totally suprised by the speed and formatting differences. 3G makes pages load much faster. I now prefer the BB browser to Opera Mini. m.youtube.com works fine too.
2. Sprint TV is AWESOME! You can watch regular cable-type channels like CNN, ABC, MTV, FOX, VH1, and more. There is also some cool content that Sprint provides as well. Make sure you check out the Time-Saving Tips videos under Sprint content - cool stuff.
3. The camera works great too - for a phone! The flash is SUPER bright. It even works during video in dark conditions. This should improve the quality of photos/video in low-light. And YES, it does support an 8GB mini-SD card. It does come with a 1GB card though.
4. I didn't see any EQ or Tone functions in the music player. But there are some listed under the voice options. I wonder if they will affect music? Dunno.

Anyway, the Sprint 8330 is the BEST Curve of them ALL!

Totally worth the upgrade. I went from 8830 to 8330... wouldn't look back. My ONLY gripe is the battery is not as good as my 8830... other than that.... not one complaint.

House....I agree with xboogie and gameboy. The browser is a great improvement. I was comparing it to my 8130. I have been threw all the Blackberry's and can say the 8330 is by far the best. Had the 8703e went to the 8830 didnt like the keypad. Got the pearl liked it, but not a qwerty keypad. Went back to the 8703e (loved keypad) with 4.2OS and keep that till the day the 8330 launched and ever since never looked back. If there is one phone I can truly say keeps me from carring my ipod, 8703e (Berry of choice), and i580 (Nextel) for the camera mainly. I paid full price for the 8330 and dont regret it at all.

thanks for the great replies everyone. I will say my 8830 battery is great so I'm hoping it isn't a big difference on the 8330 battery but looking forward to getting the device this week.

Did anyone have any problems with just getting 1x Signal on their 8330? I activated mine today and I have yet to see 1EV sitting at my desk where I could get it all the time on my 8830. I called Sprint Blackberry Support and they said that their provisioning is taking excessively long today but I don't see how this makes a difference since I'm dealing with a Radio issue.

i been using the new phone since last monday... i had the 8830 (battery lasts long) and now i have the 8330... as long as you dont use sprint tv all day (like i do) your battery life is about the same... but when you watch Fox business channel from 6 am to 2pm your device will shut down from low battery.. LOL

I just provisioned my 8330 yesterday and it took a good 4 hours before it was able to hit the 1XEV. After that, no problems at all.

Try this (this sped up provisioning for me):

1. Go to options > advanced options >host routing tables, push the menu button and select register now.

2. Go to options > mobile network, push menu button and select diagnostics. Run the diagnostics - some how it seemed to help my new 8330 yesterday.

3. Go to options > mobile network > start provisioning.

After diagnoatics, provisioning seems to speed up greatly. This made it take all of 15 minutes AFTER I ran the diagnostics first. Not sure why, but it seems it pings the network a few times during testing and I guess keeps reminding the provisioning servers to activate.

YMMV

Internet is speedy, better than the 4.2 os experience, same as most 3G 4.3 os handhelds. Better than the Pearl and 8830 IMO due to better memory management (and it seems higher memory capacity on the phone itself). Battery is a bit better than the pearl series. I get about two days with sporadic bluetooth use before I see red battery bar. Also, this phone is the most speedy/responsive of the 3 8000-series phones. My phone came with 44mb free. No memory issues yet, and this is pre-optimization.

Sprint tv has some set live channels, including Fox, CNN, and a few others. Then there are some "subscription" channels, like MTV, etc, for anywhere from $2.99 - $7.99 a month.
Any non-subscription channel is free with the Everything Plans (even the everything 450).

Video recording works good for a mobile phone. audio is okay, video depends on environment conditions (and, of course a steady hand). But otherwise decent.

I believe so - it comes with a 1gb, and I got a 2gb on sale for 13 bucks at radio shack (no rebate). So i really haven't needed to find out.
