Default Brand New Curve - 2 hours, already down 1 bar of battery?

Please Login to Remove!

I got my Curve in yesterday, and read the post on how to maximize battery life, so I left it on the charger all night, and took it off this morning at 8 am.

It's now 10:30, and I'm already down 1 bar!

Is this normal?

Depending on how much you have done with it. A lot of browsing, games, video watching will drain the power alot faster than it just being idle.

Please bear in mind that the biggest power consumer on a handheld is its backlit screen and the radio unit, it makes sense that a lower data transmission will translate directly into a much longer battery life.
.....and make sure that all running programs must be exit properly

My experience is that the battery life on the new CDMA curve is somewhat less than other Blackberry's, specifically the 8830.

I used an 8830 for just about a year and was very familiar with what I could expect as to the battery life. I am on a BES, receive about 150 emails to the device and 30-50 SMS messages daily. I also am very active on BB messenger daily.

I moved to the Curve last week and with essentially the same usage, I have noticed less battery life. I haven't compared the milliamp ratings of the 8830 and Curve batteries, but the curve battery is a bit thinner. I would estimate anywhere between 10-20% less battery life. I'll monitor it for a few weeks and possibly look at an extended battery.

I wouldn't recommend fixating on a single bar. See how it performs throughout a day. Certain activities and situations will consume more power.

Also, on the not fixating on a single bar topic, go to Options>Status>Battery and see what percentage it is on.

I know with my 8310 that I will have only one "bar" left, but have as much as 50% battery life left.

rudyo -

How has your Curve's battery been performing over the last few weeks? I'm on an 8830 now, considering a switch to the 8330, but will probably stick with my current device if the Curve's battery life isn't as good.

Thanks!

I'm in accordance with everyone else. It depends on how you use the device. You would have to be on that thing nonstop for the battery to drain that fast. That's close to 75% in two and a half hours. HIGHLY unlikely. I had an issue with an 8310 that would only last 6 to 8 hours regardless of use. How were you using it?
