I'm looking to go down the certification route, simply because work will pay for it.

I have been working installing and supporting all aspects of Blackberry for 3 years now so I'm not looking for a from scratch training solution. The exam guide mentions a few ways of getting prepared for the exams

xxx8226; Tutorials and resources from BlackBerry

Does any self study materials written specifically for the certification actually exist? or is it a case of trawling through the tutorials, articles and guides on the site and hope you brush up on the relavent subjects?

Won't help me, I take the test at WES next week.

Other then re-installing BES 4.1 in the lab I have been reading these and making a quick glance hot sheet:

Administration Guide
Installation Guide
Feature and Technical Overview
Resource Kit User Guide

Hot sheet is going to have things like AD permissions needed, Ports, commond command line stuff etc.

My concern is the questions about things we don't really use in our environment.

Yeah I am almost expecting to fail the first time though in the Beta..

Of course I have only been doing BES for like 6 months..

Ok back to my Admin Guide. So jealous you're going to WES btw. I could fit in luggage J'!

You can now get the certifications for all four of those. You go to a testing center where available (ask RIM). The catch is that they are only good for one year.

Right, well I managed to get some info on these. Rim will be publishing the following materials

- Supporting BES in Exchange
- Supporting BIS
- Designing BES in Exchange
- Supporting BB Smartphones in an Enterprise Environment
- Supporting BES in Lotus
- Supporting BES in Groupwise
- Designing BES in Domino
- Designing BES in Groupwise

RIM wouldn't give me any timeframes but did say they wanted all of them complete within 18 months. I would guess they complete the Exchange ones first like they have with the exams.

Also the impression they gave me was they would be designed as a from scratch approach for people who haven't worked in supporting them before and want to learn. which isn't much use for me.

Have you managed to find a UK test centre then?

I've done the Admin2 course for Domino, and want to give the exam a go, but cannot find anywhere to do it...

Manchester had a couple of dates available this month last time I checked

lol, it's a long way to go for an exam. I'll contact RIM and find out what is happening with London.

I have replied in the other post but I'm pretty sure it depends on the exam you want to take as to what dates are available

heh, it appears that no dates are available for Domino. When I picked the Exchange exam off the list instead, I was given the option to book.

Not too much surprise really that Exchange available first!
