Default Manage Connections Status

If it ain't broke...break it?

I'm using an 8800. From my home screen, if I select Manage Connections, and then from within the popup menu select Services Status. On this page, it shows that neither Blackberry Internet Service nor Blackberry Enterprise Server are connected. Yet, I am getting my e-mails (I'm on a BES). So, what exactly is this information telling me?

I definitely figure that since my e-mails are coming in ok, I'm not worried. But as long as this choice is there...if one day I do have problems I thought it would be nice to see a status that shows whether or not a problem is related to my carrier, or my company's BES.

Can anyone comment on what this status means?

Thanks.

I have been playing with this a lot of late also. My hope was that it would be a good way to tell if a SIM card that is showing as GPRS etc is only BIS enabled and not BES. But I have so far found it to be unreliable.

So far seen it work well at times, show neither connected when the SIM is BES enabled and have the BIS connected but not BES also with a BES enabled SIM.

I am quite interested in what other people have found, am I missing something or have others also found it to not always report correctly?

Hmm...for some reason I've never looked at that. Mine says

Voice Services
Status: available
Connection: Wi-Fi (UMA)

Blackberry Internet Service
Connection: Wi-Fi

Blackberry Enterprise Server
Connection: Wi-Fi

Ah...maybe this is just meant to be a WiFi status. And since I have an 8800, I'd never get any connection that way... Anyone else with a WiFi-enabled BB got a status here?

It will usually show (without the ...):

Voice Service
...Status: available
...Connection: Mobile Network
BlackBerry Internet Service
...Connection: Mobile Network
BlackBerry Enterprise Server
...Connection: Mobile Network

So its not WiFi only, I just dont always see the BES connect even though I know the SIM is enabled.
