so i have a treo 650 for 3 yrs now, been waiting for either the curve or centro. Curve is a definite, centro has rumors and it shows up on next vzw rebate form, but no formal announcement yet. Just trying to get peoples opinions on how these might stack up:
1. Battery life on the curve (not specs, but how does it really perform)? My 650 goes 3 days if I have minimal useage , say under an hr per day.
2. Phone radio quality. Does the curve get good reception
3. Programs. I use PDANET, and I see that is availabe for the curve. Also use some GPS with bluetooth gps (not for driving, but outdoor). Are there programs available for this? Directory assistant for lookup on palm is amazing. Finds phone numbers immediately. Equiv on BB? Google maps? IM (aol) program?
3. Reading pdfs, doc and xls and ppt files that are sent via email.
4. Browsing. How well does the rim browser show complex pages?
5. SMS. The palm sms program is fantastic. it keeps all threads. I can go back to a thread with someone that started a year or 2 or 3 ago.
Both phones have similiar form factors, the curve has better multimedia ie music features, uses a standard headset jack, and seems to have momentum. Palm has a great, easy to use OS, my 650 has been solid as a rock, but palm seems to be 'old' now. I use the phone mainly as a phone, not an email device, don't have exchange but just a pop, and only need email on the phone when i travel a week a month. If this should be in the curve forum, mod pls feel free to move it.

I contacted Verizon re: this. This was the response.
Thank you for the inquiry. We are still waiting on a quantity commitment from the
manufacturer so we can determine the day the device will be available for purchase.
The device should be available in early May but I can't guarantee the date.
Please watch our web site: Cell Phones, Cell Phone Plans, Cell Phone Accessories - Verizon Wireless for additional information.

No, we do not, that is a test device. Still no word on an exact date. Just wanted to show that it is a real device, not a myth.

I will believe it when I see it. The chatter is VERY similar to when the 8703e came out. Rumors were August... until the device arrived in September.

I'm with Dawg. What is so pretty about that Curve? Looks like a simple color scheme. Why couldn't they make it a cool black or titanium. This thing doesn't look nearly as sleek as my black and chrome 8830.

I agree that the sprint curve looks much better, but in the end, I'm faaaar more concerned about what it does for me than how it looks. Can't wait to put retire my 8703.

Yep, it has the 8830's screen size, with a better keyboard, in a more compact size, with a camera. Sounds better to me. I do agree with the others about the color scheme being pretty bland, but the phone does everything that I could want, and does it better than any smartphone that I've used.
