Default Two Blackberrys Same email account on BES

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

We are using a BES Server with our IBM Domino Server.

I need to have two blackberrys that will be linked to the same email db.
If I create two differents user in my Domino Address book like this:

Exemple:
Blackberry user1
Server1
mail\blackdb.nsf

Blackberry user2
server1
mail\blackdb.nsf

Do you think I will be able to activate both Blackberry on my BES Server?

Please let me know, if you already try that...

If it is not possible I can try to create replica of the database so blackdb1.nsf and blackdb2.nsf will replicate together every x minutes.

I'm not positive for Domino, but that definitely wouldn't work for Exchange. The reason being that the BES writes meta data in the mailbox, so my thought for Domino would be even if you have two users linked to one mail file it wouldn't work because as soon as you tried to activate the second user it would overwrite the PIN from the first.

Someone who runs a Domino environment can probably give a better answer but this would be my intuition with by BES knowledge.

It's not possible... using either method described by the OP.
1 device, 1 BES account, 1 Mailbox.

I'm assuming these are for rotating support staff? Though probably not ideal, I think you can do a work around using three mail accounts like so:

Email 1 - this is the main email (from your post it would be mail\blackdb.nsf)
Email 2 - support staff 1
Email 3 - support staff 2

Activate one BB against Email 2 and one against Email 3. Then, set up a server side rule to forward all emails sent to Email 1 to Email 2 & Email 3.

You would need a separate BES database environment. We have separate US and EU environments, and have done two devices on the same user mailfile that way.

Would you? You could have 2 Lotus Notes Accounts using the same mail database. Each blackberry could then be configured against those 2 accounts.... would this be possible?

Possible yes, I cannot think why not.

Might get in a mess though, having 2 different state DBs tracking one mailfile.

I might test this if I get some time.

You can also try using a TeamMail database for the shared account and set up the individuals as members of the team; point the BBs at the individuals' NSFs, and they'll still get everything from the TeamMail address.

Look around openntf.org for TeamMail - we use it for round-robin tech support addresses.
