Unhappy Enterprise Activation issues....

Please Login to Remove!

Just installed BES 4.0 for Exchange. We'd been running 3.x for over a year with no issues. We also upgraded our 7280's to 7100's. When trying to complete the Enterprise Activation, the 7100's sit at the Activiating...then retrying screens. We are receiving emails from [email address] in our inboxes but the activation never completes.

Any help would be great!

Thanks in advance!

Any messages from the BES logs that look like they shouldn't be there?

Are you sure you BES 4.0 system is configured properly? SRP connected and everything?

Have you tried a manual activation with the device plugged into the server yet to make sure that portion of the server is at least operating correctly?

It was our firewall. Our firewall scans our email and adds to the subject line. The addidtion to the subject line is what is preventing the BEServer from completing the activation.

It should give you a list of the items it is sync'ing including the currently sync'ing item. Scroll down through the list while it is stuck there.

Depending on the amount of users, and number of concurrent activations, this is definately possible. Around 89% it goes to address book, notes, calendar, tasks, email filters I think. Those can take quite a while sometimes. In the meantime, you should be able to email and use the phone as normal.

I am not Exchange user but I had a similar problem with Domino and had to delete the state database and user profile within the blackberryprofiles.nsf database then re-create the user within the BES.

Calendar goes through well before this point. Generally this 11% would be the PIM Sync data which is the Address Book, Memos, Tasks, Email Filters and Email Settings.

Have you tried restarting the Sync Service when a BlackBerry is in this state?

89% is a common issue, basically this is where PIM is getting synched, calendar and address book. If they are large, it can take a while. Firstly check your cdo.dll is the right version and in the right place. then check that those etp messages arent being deleted or quarrantined. Finally, ring up your provider and make sure your devices are provisioned for enterprise not prosumer

CDO would have nothing to do with this process. CDO is used to modify/create appointments within a user's Exchange mailbox.

If the etp message is being filtered then the process would stick on Activating and never even start the whole process.

I would bet that if the device is not provisioned for enterprise then it wouldn't get far enough in the activation to get stuck on 89%.

I'm simply checking off the obvious options first. We had this issue here and its sometimes hard to diagnose. Has this BES had sp1 or sp2 applied to it?
