I have to say i love blackberry stories. Of losing, dropping & getting blatantly Robbed.

My best story is .. i was taking the train home with my brother it was around 4am on the weekends needless to say we were in the city all night partying. We wound up sleeping through our stop and i had my blackberry 7100 on my hip in my holster. Someone robbed me while i was sleeping. Totally sucked balls! Lost everything and didnt' have insurance. WOund up switching from Nextel to TMO becasue of it.

Learned my lesson .. always get the $5 insurance!

I dropped one in a river, gave it to EZrunner and he fixed it and used it. My friend dropped his in a urinal, continued to pee on it (21st Birthday in Vegas), then rinsed it off in the sink. Then gave it to me to fix. After 4 days of drying out all was well.

To the O.P.: really sorry for you, my pearl was a bust after it's first fall (two months buying it), luckily I was able to get an exchange from the liquidation place my gf got it from as it was still under warranty, it really sucks you weren't as lucky, better luck next time.

Default Saving A Water Damaged Blackberry

Has anyone ever heard of this? Take a water damaged Blackberry, remove the battery, submerge the device in a bowl of rubbing alcohol, remove and allow to dry overnight. The theory is that as the alcohol evaporates it will take the water with it.

Also getting the $5/month optional insurance can save some headaches if all the Logic above escapes you
