Default Google Maps 2.0.1 (latest version) on AT&T BlackBerry Curve 8300

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I just attempted to install and load the latest version of Google Maps from
Google Maps on my AT&T BlackBerry Curve 8300. The version is 2.01. This version has the blue dot/blue circle "My Location" technology.

However, once Google Maps is installed and I click on the Google Maps
icon the BlackBerry locks up/hangs/crashes and I have to
remove the battery to reset the unit. Each time I click the GMM icon the BB crashes.

I have tried adjusting the "Allow" settings under Settings/Applications
for connections but this does not correct the problem. I successfully downloaded an older GMM version (1.6.1) for the time being but I would like to get GMM 2.0.1 working.

I have tried installing Google Maps separately and as part of the
Google Updater pack that contains Gmail, Picasa, News for your BlackBerry. However, all options fail to resolve this Google Maps issue.

Note: I did successfully get GMM 2.0.1 working on my wife's T-Mobile BlackBerry Pearl 8100. So she is happy!

Thanks,
treaders

I would try uninstalling and the reinstalling! I have it working just fine on my girlfriends 8300

Well--if you are up to it, there is nothing wrong with upgrading the OS:

All the Google Update Pack programs: GMail, Picasa, Google News, Google Search (but I did remove all of these first and then tried installing only GMM 2.0.1)

Plus: Yahoo! Go, Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk (removed before re-installing GMM 2.0.1), MLB.com Mobile, TeleNav Maps, BEIKS Dictionary Reader, Fox Business Mobile, Live Search, Facebook, ESPN (link to web site), CricketCast (sports scores application),

Sorry, I missed the link above. Although, I guess my question about company supplied BB's still stands.

Ah, well--I wonder if your company IT Policy is somehow blocking an action of the newer version of GMM. I know you stated the older 1.6 worked well, but still this new 2.0.1 version is accessing different functions which could be blocked by your IT Policy.

Likewise, I did not know you are on a BES. You should ask your Admins about upgrading. It is ok to do it, you should just bring them in the loop.

I believe it bases it off of the cell tower and reception. But I could be wrong
