I have a major issue going on. Our company was acquire by another. We have a number of BB users, all of whom were on our BES box and we Exchange for our email server. The acquiring company uses a BES box and Lotus Notes for email. We need to migrate our BB users from our BES to the new company's BES and we are not having any luck.

The first thing they told us was to perform an activation and select "Delete all data" when asked. I did that, and spent an entire afternoon reconfiguring my BB (an 8830) from the ground up, including having to reload all my 3rd party software activation keys. Not fun.

Next, we check with someone else, who suggested that delete the desktop[SYNC] service book, connect to the desktop manager, do a backup, remove the remaining desktop service books and then activate on the new server. We did that and, besides an IT policy load failure, appears to activate, but then got a decryption failure. It was suggested that we needed to reinstall the desktop manager, so that it pointed to Lotus Notes. We did that, but the DM insists it can't connect to the LN server.

So right now, my BB works, but not my DM. Our president's BB isn't getting email due to the decryption error and I don't have a clue where to go next. Does anybody have any ideas. I am desperate here.

There are a few tools to convert your Exchange BES to to notes. Email Migration: email migration and conversion tools for all popular email systems

You have to wipe out your handheld because the SRP of the server you are currently on is there. There is no way to simply edit this data. Next is that you cant just do an activation: was an account created for you? Wireless Enterprise Activiation / Provision?

I am assuming (which I hate to do so) that your mail boxes are converted over?!

Wipe out the handheld, ensure the BES account for you is created, and then provision the handheld. This is the way I know how to do so.

If you are moving to notes, you need a Lotus Person Document, mail file, BES Account ( a state db is created for you) and then you can activate your handheld.

A lot of planning should have been done prior to any migration. If your company intends to maintain two messaging systems (Domino & Exchange), then they'll have to also maintain two BES infrastructure. It's two different messaging platforms which interact quite differently with the BES infrastructure.
This would mean that you will have to either migrate Exchange users (those with BB devices) to Domino, then create BB accounts on the Domino BES for each of them. Or simply create new accounts on the Domino BES and activate these users. Either approach would entail a security wipe & load of each device that is migrated over. The migrated users would experience some typical issues- namely Calendaring & scheduling not syncing properly, EA issues, mail redirection problems. This is not always the case if proper planning is done beforehand.
