Default TMobile 8320 New Registration (WAS MY DEVICE USED??)

Please Login to Remove!

Greetings everyone. I hope that all of you are enjoying your new Curve 8320.

I was one of the few that got my hands on it prior to the 24th release date. The day that I got it, I left for Maui shrotly thereafter. I noticed one thing on my BB, and because I never had one before, I didit think too much of the 2messages on the phone that was on it.

They are dated in my mesages folder like this:

Mon, Aug 13, 2007

Blackbery Registration
Your handheld has been registered with the wireless network. 10:06AM

Welcome to T-Mobile
Thank you for purchasing your Blackberry blah blah..... 9:17AM

Question is, are BB's pre registered like this? If not, is it safe to assume that this BB Curve was played around with prior to my purchase?

Mahalos..

Yes, that is safe to assume, not knowing where you got your BB from, it obviously was not new in the box, and someone had already turned it on and/or registered it to the network.

Can you look at the headers on those two emails to determine who they were sent to?

I dont see anyone on the headers.

I got it from an actual T-Mobile store on 9.22.2007. The First message was at 9:17AM from TMobile, a Welcome message from TMobile. The second message was at 10:06AM from Blackberry saying that the handheld has been registered with the wireless network. Both of these were dated Aug 13, 2007and were already in the messages folder when I got it.

The thing is, I saw the rep pull it out of the box and enter the SIM like it was brand new. However, if the two mesages indicate that it was already registered back in August

I will demand that I get a new one since I paid for a new one.

Has anyone else seen something like this on a new device?

The question is, are those messages dated before or after you picked up tjhe phone? Those are just system notifications that the phone has been turned on. When I bought my Pearl int eh store, the guys made sure it worked, and activated the phone on site. Those messages mean the phone has been activated.

I've never gotten them from my SIM, they come upon connection to your BIS, or when you register the HRT.

It's just a blackberry thing because when you first turn the phone on the date and time are not set correctly. It's nothing to get excited about.

As mentioned, I purchased the phone on September 22nd. The messages were dated August 13th.

I was told over the phone that I can rest assured that my device was not used or opened back in August. According to him (Supervisor), the IMEI number on my blackberry would indicate useage prior to purchase.

Im wondering if this explanation is fair...hmm...

I got that too, once when I first turned on the phone then again when I did a wipe of the device.

Same thing happened to me. The first 2 messages, which were the same T mobile and BlackBerry ones, had the wrong date on them. It was a couple weeks old.

I think they were received before the phone synchronized the clock and that's what the phone used to date them.

They showed that date for a while, however I just noticed today that they now show the correct date. So keep checking them and maybe at some point they'll correct.
