Default T-mobile Mobile Instant Messaging App-Broken?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

I put this on my 7290.

It tries to connect to AOL IM, gets signed in, I see arrows showing internet access. It gets to 80% (Retrieving Buddy List), and sits, no internet activity for 3 minutes and says 'a communication error has occurred'.

I know it gets signed in ok, since it told my desktop that I was now signed in in two places and logged me off the desktop.

I've rebooted the pc, and rebooted the 7290. Verified that AIM is not running on the pc, etc, etc.

My buddy list contains 3 names, so it is not a huge list

-edit- I tried signing into Yahoo also, got to the same 80% 'Loading Contact List' and sat for 3 minutes, then said 'Communications error'

Anyone gotten this to work?

I'm not on tmobile, so I don't know those apps, but maybe this will help.

I have an 8700c (Cingular) and I'm connected to our corporate BES. At the office, if I try to use AIM on my computer, I have to configure it to use port 23 rather than the default port.

I found that when using Ramble (free Berry AIM client), I had to configure it to use port 23 there too.

Like I said, it may not help, but if you have an option to change the port and you're on a BES, you may want to give it a try.

Brian - Next time, please start a new thread versus reviving a 14 month old one. On the other hand, I do appreciate you taking the time search before posting.

Brian, I am not sure if you are still having issues. But I use TMO and I was able to login to AOL IM. Has it worked for you before? You might want to try the following:

Just keep in mind that the Instant Messaging that T-mobile provides to you uses SMS. So you better have a very good SMS plan.
