Default 7290 Gone or Just out of stock?

Please Login to Remove!

Anyone out there have a 7290 on order or trying to get one from Cingular?

Last week they were posted and noted as shipping on 10/5. I ordered one on monday and now it is on back order. Others have stated 10/15 they will have them. I called customer service and was told various things by different people, even as far as to say it was discontinued.

Then I saw this http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...hreadid=472744

Anyone else talk to cingular and hear they arent coming in or disavowing all knowledge of its existance? Looks fishy here. Almost just like Cingular started selling them before they got any and now they aren't getting them for a while.

Mine is still on back order.. We shall see.

It has indeed now been replaced with the 7280 on their site.

Cingular unfortunatly did the same thing for a few other phones, the V600 is the most notable. People ordered them, then they ubruptly discontinued them, saying they were flawed (funny, not a lick of problem in 6 months I've had mine), customers had them on back order until Cingular got a suitable replacement in, then they shipped them out.

My advice, stay on top of cingular as to where it is, especially if you paid the money.

Karbon Systems has the 7290 on their site. I called and the sales person said it would not be available until the end of October. He also said they have a waiting list for the device.

This is good to hear. Good ole' uninformed Cingular reps saying is discontinued and not going to be sold.. sheesh. When I said Cingular was supposed to be exclusively carrying it and that it was announced and big press releases were made by RIM and Cingular, all they could say was "Well, uh, I don't know Sir..."

I called T-Mobile support and ask if they are planning to offer the 7290. The T-Mobile people are very nice and helpful! I was quickly sent to the wireless data support team.

The tech I spoke to knew about the 7290. He said there were no near-term plans to offer it through T-Mobile. He said he would send my request to the products group. He also suggested that I send an email or letter to customer relations.

I do not know how much it would cost or how easy it would be to get an unlocked 7290. Karbon Systems said they will not sell the 7290 without a two-year Cingular contract.

If enough T-Mobile customers are interested in the 7290, hopefully they will offer it soon!

not really sure why they would. they already have a 72xx form factor model on the market. sure its not quad-band and its not bluetooth-enabled, but there will be some other model form factor out before there is another 72xx model handset being offered for T-Mobile's service (my opinion).

TMO will have the 7290 after the first of the year. Cingular has exclusivity on it now while TMO has exclusivity on the 7100 for now.

I've been dealing with Cingular on this issue ass well. Now on the web site they have taken off the 7290 from being able to be purchased. I think they got so many requests that they had to take it off till they get them in stock. I've stayed with it and have been told that it will ship on Tuesday the 12th. We'll see.

Actually it is supposed to ship next Friday, the 15th. And my understanding (from a Cingular Business Rep), they are trying to sell off their inventory of 7280's before shipping the 7290. And I also read here on these boards that they ran into some bugs which led to the delay.

I think it is funny how when you ask them (Cingular Corp. Store, Business Rep) about the 7290 they play dumb.

I just receieved an email from our Cingular sales representative regarding the 7290

" .. They have not been released as of today - There is a software update that needs to be on the device before it is commercially launched. ETA is Oct 25th as of today however keep in mind that this date could change"

I'm waiting as fast as I can

Tmobile will definitely be stocking the 7290 as soon as they are able, its clearly now the premium product in the standard blackberry lineup and they would lose out if they didn't stock it. They are simply keeping quiet about it since they have the 7100 to push atm.

As far as another form factor showing up between the 7100 and the 7290, not a chance unless you are talking about a bb connect device, rim isn't big enough to launch loads and loads of new devices like a nokia or whoever.

The hits just keep on coming...Just got off the phone with Cingular and they have no idea as to what's going on and not only that they don't even seem willing to try and figure it out to provide a date that it might be available. This company has gone to the SH-!T

My rep at Karbon told me that RIM and Cingular had resolved whatever issues there were and that the units were shipping out yesterday or today and would be available to ship to customers about middle of next week.

Yeah Ill believe this when I see it. I actually would have had no problem with this little delay, had cingular not posted the phone for SALE on the site in the first place. Even with a wrong ship date.

Spoke to my Cingular rep in Texas yesterday. She said the 7290 would definitly be out soon. She was hoping as early as the end of next week. She also mentioned that there were still lots of 7280s in their warehouse. She didn't mention any software issues, although there might be something to Cingular holding back on shipping the 7290s until they draw down on their 7280 inventory.

If anyone else offers the 7290 first, that's where I'll go. I just hope RIM isn't part of Cingular holding back the 7290 after they announced its roll-out, if that's why the device is not out yet.
