Default Disable "Meeting Request" emails?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm trying to set up a BB 8830 World Edition for someone, and I can't find any option to disable sending "meeting request" emails whenever I add/change and item inthe calendar. Help pls?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forums!

I'm not 100% sure I understand your question... Can you give an example?

Thanks for the welcome and quick reply!

Whenever an item is added to the calendar with "invitees", the BB automatically sends an email out to all invitees notifying them of the meeting. I'm trying to disable that email from being sent. The client I'm setting up the BB for finds them annoying; also, we're syncing the calendar to Oracle Time using SyncJE, so whenever a new item gets added via the sync, the BB thinks we're just added a new meeting manually and sends out the meeting request email. Oracle already sends it's own request email in those cases, so the BB is just duplicating them.

Ahhh... I understand now.

I have never seen an option to disable sending the invite to the 'invitees' when you first create the meeting. I guess I'm a little puzzled why the client *wouldn't* want the invitees to know about the meeting....but it's not my place to question why

If you don't want to send the meeting to them, then I'd recommend not adding them as an invitee, but rather just putting their names in the body/subject/notes of the meeting.

As for the Oracle issue....that one I can't help with...sorry!

Is there a way to disable outgoing email entirely then? What if we want to only VIEW emails, and completely disable sending emails from the Blackberry? Can we do that?

Given the same situation, here's what I'd do (clunky workaround but hey, best I can think of in a few minutes).

Turn off mobile radio service via Manage Connections (untick Mobile Service).

Create the calendar entry, invite attendees, etc., save the appointment.

Open up your mail, find the meeting invitation email, highlight it, and click Delete.

Exit mail, turn radio service back on.

Just tested it, seems to work.

As for changes to existing meetings, you should get a popup box for those when saving, asking if you want to notify attendees, no? I do on mine, so of course I would say no.
