The desktop manager is crashing when I try to synch calendar entries from lotus notes. I follewed all the instructions I found RE advanced logging, however when I delete the last item in the tif.log it crashed on the next previous entry (i.e. the record number count on the screen showing when it crashes just gets reduced by one). It must be crashing on the next item it is trying to read. I can find no pattern to the order in which it is reading records (chronological, ID#, subject/event name).

I have a few years of history it is reading through just to synch entries in the future and I can not delete all the history. I would just delete all calendar entries with an attachment but I have found no way to identify them. File/Export yields no fields showing attachment info and there is nothing 'searchable' or that appears in any of the standard views.

Any help would be much appreciated. I have had my 8800 for a while now and I really need my calendar to function!

This is normally due to a corrupt calendar entry and like you said it is very hard to identify. Best thing to do is try narrowing the date range. Instead of doing 30 days back and 90 forward do 15 back and 30 forward.

Usually if you can get your Notes admin to run a "fixup" on the mailbox and the BES state database, it will fix your corrupt entries.

Oh--this appears to be a non-BES environment. Nevermind on the state db.

I narrow the date range down, like x14 suggested. sometimes you can find the offending entry that way.

You might also try deleting the "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Research In Motion" folder from the PC, then try syncing again.

In cases where I still couldn't correct the problem, I'll just print out the users calendar then delete it (especially if it's less than a 100 entries (count recurring entries as 1 in this case). Then have the user or the user's secretary key in the data again. Maybe be nice and try syncing again before he/she is halfway done just to see that there are no problems before you waste all of the secretary's time and effort.
