Default Deleting emails with a back-up / restore…

Please Login to Remove!

I have this issue where I have old emails that are not deleting for some reason. I think there is a way to get rid of them with a back up and restore somehow. Give me some ideas…

Thanks!

BES or BIS? A bit more detail always is helpful in getting help... and a correct answer.

the messages that are not deleting are from a BES server... New emails are deleting fine, but these are from about a week ago and are just sitting there...

Smile I have dealt with this before

Hello nickbee,

I have had this issue before, and you are correct you can use the Backup/Restore to rid the handheld of these undeletable messages.

With your BlackBerry cabled to your PC, open Desktop Manager and choose Backup/Restore, then choose Advanced. The window that opens has two panes. The pane on the right will display the information currently on your BlackBerry (the pane on the left will usually display the information contained in your last Backup file). In the pane on the RIGHT hightlight Messages, then click on the Clear button. This will delete ALL messages from your handheld, including the ones you couldn't successfully delete on the handheld manually.

I hope this helps you.

Kind regards.

Default Unsure

Hello again nickbee,

I don't believe the procedure I outlined will remove the "Saved" messages. But I haven't tested this, so there is room for doubt.

I have never been able to resore "Saved" messages from a back-up file, so I don't know what to advise. I would look to move the "Saved" messages off of the device to a more secure place (by whatever means you have at your disposal) prior to attempting the procedure in my earlier post.

I would hate it if a procedure I recommended to help you causes you a loss of data.

Kind regards.
