Buy an unlocked Tmo unit and sugar cube off the logo. You will have a nice all black unit with no need to open it up and void the warranty.

It is the easiest way.

What does "sugar cube off" mean ? Do you actually mean to use a sugar cube and rub it onto the logo?

removing the logo:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ular-logo.html

One other way to remove the logo is to rub it off with a sugar cube, as the cube is rough enough to remove the paint but not hard enough to scratch the plastic of the phone. This is an older more primative way of doing it, the method in the thread I just linked sounds more effective.

This will not only be the cheapest way to get a plain black 8800 it will probably be the easiest. I havnt seen any sign that RIM is selling the real unbranded 8800 yet. Send me a PM if you are interested in getting a tmo 8800.

Is searching really that difficult for people??
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...-pictures.html

It's not a nice step-by-step guide like what we have for some of the other models but the info is there.

The branding plate is actually separate from the top housing. To change just that, you need to take the battery out from the back, and if you look you'll see 4 tabs between the plate and the bottom housing. Just pull the tabs up with a pair of tweezers, and then pull the thing off taking care not to mess up the keypad. It should come right off but its a bit annoying because of how well its wedged in.

The thing is, finding an unbranded plate is really hard, basically RIM employees are walking around with branded ones as well.

One thing about the keypads is that they have the plastic side things next to the send and end keys which would also be a different colour so it would look retarded.

eBay: Blackberry 8800 "LIMITED EDITION BLACK UNBRANDED" LOOK! (item 170120167082 end time Jun-17-07 22:59:53 PDT)
If you look at the pic with the phone on it looks like a T-Mobile Zen theme full screen (because of the icons). I think the dude just unlocked the phone and then sugar cubed the branding off the case.

Try here

Seems like the BlackBerry(s) they carry are factory unlocked, unless otherwise indicated.
