I have an unlocked 8700c for T-mobile. Will I lose my unlocked vendor themes if I upgrade to 4.2? Specifically the dimensions zen theme, which I don't want to lose.

Simply unlock them in the same manner you unlocked them before.

Actually this is ONE big minus after I upgraded. The Volume is a lot LOWER. Especially the ringer. Blah!

I'm getting used to this new OS -- the first time hubby called and it had to produce the picture with the incoming call information it took too long and went to voice mail. But it learned quickly and the next time it popped on the second ring.

With any new OS no matter the platform, there are likes and dislikes, and its taken me 3 days to get the browser to do what the old one did (don't ask, it's a quirk of mine).

I like it.

Now RIM needs to get the themes updated to this version. I flat out can't stand what we have now -- but I will survive.

On the ringer volume, I quit using the UFO tone with 4.1 because 'low' was too loud for me. Now with 4.2 'low' is low again, so that is a positive (for me) I can report.

Another positive, I like the RSS feed support in the browser. That will probably keep me holding on and not downgrading to 4.1.

So far I haven't had any serious issues with this version, but then I don't use Opera Mini, nor other things that are a problem with this version.

This update added voice notes, Blackberry maps, MMS features, and one more thing: it fixed the poor voice quality on my TMobile 8700. I'm in New York and the voice quality was so poor I almost switched phones. I suspected that such a thing was software-related and it was true! Hooray for me!

I updated to the .101 version and the volume was lower as well, you would have thought they would have fixed that in a newer version.

I too am picky about the browser and have been trying to get it to behave like in 4.1. My cursor gets lost when scrolling and the style sheets in the new browser cause fonts to be too large. I believe that I am using the same settings as in 4.1. Any ideas on how to correct?

I used to use the Wave theme, but it is not available for 4.2. I prefer the O2 Icon theme among those available.

I have same problem with cursor on some sites, but it is *some* sites and not *every* site. I may find it is not every time with the same site but a sometime thing regardless of site.

I also have trouble on one site I use (Fitday) where table rows wrap when they don't have to (there is empty space left at the right of the table). This didn't happen with 4.1 and I can't fix with playing with browser settings. Others sites are ok, and I have other problems now with this site (won't remember login info). May be a bug with .91, don't know and haven't paid close attention to the 4.2 threads to know better. I may get off my rear and do the latest 4.2.

It might be too soon to say.

But I think my battery life as improved DRASTICALLY.

Phone was fully charged yesterday morning. Used the phone throughout the day (more than usually being "new"). Woke up this morning (24 hours later). Battery life is at 75%!!!

Wow! Normally i'm at maybe 60% or 65% after 24 hours and thats not even using as much as I did yesterday!

Anyone else notice battery life improvement?

A full backup and restore of all personal data is part of the loading process. You won't lose your emails/data.

BBDimension, Icon, Today (default themes)
AT&T
Bell
O2 Icon
Orange
Sprint
Verizon
Vodafone Today
i went to blackberry.alx file and theres like 6 different places to enter vendorID "#"....do i just do all of them? i just want the bbdimension icon back...thanks

BB Dimension Icon was one of the 3 default themes when I installed 4.2. You shouldn't need to do anything to get it. Are you thinking about the Insight Icon theme? That one wasn't available.

There are 7 replacements in the alx file which give you the themes I listed. I did all 7.

John C., Many thanks. I did loaded OS new version after back up email and data. then restore data into new OS version. Once thank you!

I discovered that two things in New 4.2 verison having issues:

1) backlight

2) browser is little slow load/ response unlike older 4.1 OS version. is not that normal?

I'm going to play my bb with new 4.2 version OS for a fews days.

I like the update. I just switched from a 7105t to a 8700g on T-Mobile and I was used to 4.1 but I really like 4.2. I think it looks nice, I like having the option to have my e-mail separate from my SMS messages.

I have had no issues at all with it.

T-mobile 8700g (voice & data plan)

Having serious problem with my device for the last 2 months, please help! I'm in NYC. While I'm driving talking on my phone, every calls I'm having audio problem. I see call is very active, all signal bars are showing. All the sudden we don't hear each other. I hang up & call again. Even sometimes I'm in conference call, I made calls to everyone. All the sudden for few minutes, I don't hear anyone talking & vice versa. After 2 to 3 minutes, I started to hear again. This is my 4th replacement device. Today I finally spoke with Blackberry Tech. he thinks, problem is in my Sim Card. I replaced my Sim Card with a new one. After weekend I will find out if the problem is solve? I'm off in weekend. Please keep in mind, when my device had handheld version 4.1.346 I never faced this problem, but every now & then my 8700g rebooted itself, while I was in active call. Since then I installed new version 4.2.1.91. I'm having major audio issues, but no more rebooting.

Sorry, guys I didn't mean to write so big notes. All I was trying to explain my situation. If any one has any advice, I would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.
