Default Do we really need a case for curve?

Please Login to Remove!

I just bought a curve and wondering if I really need a leather case/pouch for it. I would prefer to keep it in my Jean’s pocket but wonder if I would damage trackball this way. So I am looking for advice from experienced guys on this. Thanks in advance!

You will find that dust will get behind the screen cover quite quickly. Pockets are kinda dusty and off your device little to no protection. I know it may look cool but I need to be able to get to my phone maybe 60-70 times a day and the holster does it for me.

But I know the holster is not fashionable

I was walking from the AT&T store across the street to Best Buy a couple of weeks ago, and happened to be carrying my Curve in my hand. I tripped over the curb, and used my hands to break the fall. The leather case took a little beating, but kept the BB from getting damaged by the asphalt. Well worth the cost of the case.

my 8300 is arriving tomorrow and i'm planning on going caseless... never liked them and doubt i ever will... if i pocket it, i make sure nothing else is in there (keys, changes, pen, etc) to scratch up the screen... the dust thing i'll have to monitor... but the holster thing - sorry not for me

reason i got the 8300 over the 8800 is mainly for the size advantage specifically to have it be more pocketable to me... so i don't really see the point of making it bulkier with a skin or case... and as i said, holster, belt clips, etc. are a no-go.... i'll take my chances... if i trip and the BB takes the fall... too bad for me i guess.

peace

I've always carried my BBs (7130, 8700) in the holster on and off work so I do the same with my Curve. Then again, I also carry my cellphone and car pager on my belt too.

That must be one heavy duty belt! I only use the case when it would look worse to have the Blackberry in my trousers...otherwise it goes into my pocket regardless of whether I'm carrying the 8800 or 8300.

I'd rather get a few scratches on the back than have a case myself. I hate the bulk of most of them, and the look of all of em. Just get yourself a screen protector and be done with it imo, unless you like the idea of mebiuspower's batman utility belt.

Mine came with a leather case - don't the ones sold in the US?

You need to turn your unit off or not have the backlight working and go outside or to a window and hold your device at just the right angle. It will be very little a first and who know, you might have no dust but I am betting you have just not seen it yet.

I just use an invisible shield for the screen and keep it in my shirt pocket and no problems for the last couple of months. Of course I always bend at the knees like Grandma said.....

What's a good holster for a Curve? I really like the convenience of quick access a holster gives. My old 8700 came with one, but I need to get one for my 8300, any suggestions?

Both of these are OEM holsters, and prices are great.

We just get the leather pouch which is pretty useless as it doesn't fully protect it from dropping at arms length.

The OEM leather belt clip is great, it has lining cutout for the trackball and is magnetized (so it doesn't put any scratch on the BB).

I, from day one, was using a OEM skin. Then about 2 weeks ago I decided to take it off and just stick it in my pocket. Huge mistake. the seam on the right side by the volume buttons must not be sealed well because now I have dust all over that side of the screen.

Weird. I got absolutely no carrying apparatus whatsoever with my Curve. I walked out of the AT&T store with the box myself, so I know nobody tampered with the contents. Doesn't really look like anything else could even fit in there. Did they stop giving that away to save money, or just nobody used it?
