DC, you are correct. She's already at the beach at this point anyway.

Get a cheap-o Samsung flip phone so you have emergency communication but leave the BB as home. Or don't go to the beach. If your business won't keep for a few hours then you really don't have time to go to the beach.

You know all that is such baloney. If I want to go to the beach with my BB, or go fishing, or plow a field with it, I do. If I wanted to be TIED to my office, I would not have a BB in the first place.
The BB frees me to go more places and be away from the office and still run my business. It is a freeing device, not a leash, as you must think. It is all in the way you view the device.

I'm not a big fan of ziplock bags or the so called waterproof pouches. I use a Pelican box with a clear lid. Works great. Waterproof and will float. Take mine on my boat hunting all the time. Clear lid makes it nice, I can check it without opening.

Ziplock bag will be nice and for added peace of mind put a spunge with the bb when ziplocking it. in case water gets inside - ![Smiley](http://www.blackberryforums.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

I read the Otterbox website and it doesn't say "waterproof" or "dustproof," -- am I misreading that?

From their web site:
Quote:
OtterBox carries the most rugged waterproof boxes on the market. Otter Box waterproof cases are waterproof up to 100 feet deep - 10 times deeper than our competition!!!
Drybags sound great in theory, but snag one on a sharp tree branch and it's toast. And if you drop one, youxxx8217;re likely to hear a loud crunch from whateverxxx8217;s inside. Thatxxx8217;s why you need the right watertight box for the right job. Thatxxx8217;s why you need OtterBox waterproof cases.
All models are lined with 1/8" foam, except OtterBox 1000 and clear OtterBoxes.

Get the one for the blackberry or one close to the right size. They have foam inside to keep your unit from moving around in there.

At this point, the OP is probably *back* from the beach, but just wanted to add a few things here.
I use a pelican case as well for my Ipod for when I travel (throwing an ipod in a computer bag can be rather bruising) and for when I am camping, etc. it is airtight and waterproof. If you are around the water, these things are a must.
I have also used the old ziploc bag trick when I am snowboarding. Its pretty effective, but is also not subject to the sand, so it works well.

This whole thread has been worthwhile, even if the OP grabbed a couple ziplocks in the first place.

Chances are he will go to the beach again. Unless he knew this would be his last time for the remainder of his year he will be at the beach, then this thread will be kind of pointless.
Now that I look at Aquapac ... it looks a VERY good solution. Its tough, and has a band that you can put around your waste. Otterbox is a good solution where there is a chance your BB might fall into a lake or something or take a pounding. So for me, I would take Aquapac to the beach, and otterbox on a boat in the middle of a lake fishing.

well said... i own my own business and only employ 3 people, so when we close the doors for vacations, the BB is a great tool. i am never tied to my office thanks to the BB and voicemail!
