Default Lock/ unlock with one single shortcut

Please Login to Remove!

Locking and unlocking on a standard mobile phone is easy: Holding "#" does it.
Nothing more to do.
It works in every context. The user does not has to go back to the "start page".

Exactly that usability I like to realize with the BB 7730.

At the moment it is quite laborius:
Locking:
1 Going back to the start page
2 ALT+ENTER

Unlocking
SCROLLWHEEL, SCROLLWHEEL

Do you any way to boost locking and unlocking in a BB?

Thanks.

Ompul, try the shortcut for tapping K on your keyboard, if you have "Dial from Homescreen" turned off in your Phone dialer > Options > General Options.

I know this shortcut works on many other models, not sure about yours.

May be you missunderstood my wish.

On my GUI in german language the function "lock" could be activated by "V".

The title of the function is "Tastatur_verriegelung".

"K" opens "_Kalender" (Calendar).

But I like to have the same elegance as I it is usual in mobile phones.

The shortcut should work in every context.

And when I am inside the addressbook, for example, "V", of course, does not lock, but jumps to the first address which begins with "V".

Do you understand what I search for?

Yes, I understand more clearly now. But your BB is not a normal phone, and the V shortcut to lock ONLY works from the homescreen, thus why they are called "Homescreen shortcuts".

But there isn't another method.

I hoped there is one. Thanks for your comment.

Than I change the type of my question:

Would you enjoy a possibility to create shortcuts to open applications from every context? Would you regard such a feature as an improvement of usability for a BB?

I mean: Assign the "long hold of key ..." to "open app ...".

Do you see any argument which speeks against such a feature?

I see having shortcuts to other applications (from any screen) as a nice option, if we had it.

Thanks for your estimation - and for the mail address.

What a pity that there's is no plugin/ app which offers such nice usability boosters right now - before RIM will integrate them into the operating system.

I'm not familiar with the 7730, but I know with the Pearl (8100) there are a two programmable buttons (default: Voice dial & camera). I'm able to assign keyboard lock to either of those and it works when I'm in any application.
