Update: I simply downloaded and reinstalled the client from http://www.blackberry.com/go/yahoo (and it was the same version). It works again. Weird.

That is the sweetest thing. I'm glad you enjoy your Pearl. ^_%

Well, as you can see from this thread, Yahoo! works. =P
As for AIM, MSN, or ICQ, well, that seems to be another issue all together. There's currently no known fix, to my knowledge, for those, as the service books for them are far outdated and thus the services are inactive. Workin' on it, though. =)

AIM, MSN, and ICQ aren't service book issues. It appears RIM has turned off the servers for these.

You are correct, I worded that wrong. I apologize.

Need some help to make mine work :(
I did all what was said in the posts...downloaded the new backup and restored it via the desktop manager. I resent service books, still when I log in with my 7130c it says visit www.blackberry.com/go/yahoo to register...someone tell me what I am doing wrong please

I have an unlocked Pearl and borrowed a friend's T-Mobile sim card to try the install that way. When I turn on the Pearl it loads up fine, however it says data connection refused and I cannot get online to even attemp to downloam Y!M. Any suggestions? I assumed when it loaded up with the different sim it would automatically setup the network. My friend thinks she does have a data plan (non-blackberry though) but even if she didn't shouldn't it at least let me use the MediaNet browser on GPRS? I also changed the APN settings to T-mobile's network as well.
Edit: Well I went ahead and used the method in the OP. It's working so far. Already had my handheld registered at Yahoo Mobile.

Thanks for the info!!!!
Worked great for me....
8700c on Cingular of course -
I was little worried about my BES service but I remebered that the BES settings will come back if you desktop manager setup and connected to your email system. Lost them once before when I upgraded to V4.1
JerryD has already posted how to get your BES stuff working again earlier in this thread, so I won't repost it here. I just wanted to confirm that his info is 100% to everyone else.
Big thanks Spencer_CDS for posting this and helping us all out!

Try going to the webpage. It's not very user friendly, but there is a link there to register your handheld and it shouldn't be a problem after that. Sometimes you just have to try and do what it tells you!
Edit: Just go here and there is a link at the bottom to register your mobile for yahoo messenger. The next page will ask you to login if you have a yahoo id already or create one if you done. Just go from there.

Can I ask a stupid question here...i know, just did.
So when following the instructions, when do you actually download the Y IM application? Before doing the instructions or after?

Ok finally figured it all out and am working now. Had to delete (via DM) all my service books then proceed with the instructions. Works great now.
Thanks!

Nope, Y! Messenger is a data-only client and therefore will not use SMS at all.
