Default Funny symbol

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys

One of my users has a funny little symbol on the top left of this blackberry screen, its a 1 overlayed with a yellow speech bubble. We thought it was a blackberry messenger Icon but iv checked his conversations and he has non.

Does anyone know what this symbol means?

Question

Well, if it's not for BB Messenger, does he have any other messaging/IM software on the phone?

With it being a word bubble with a 1 in it, it sure sounds like it's indicating that he has a new IM of some kind.

BTW, do you know what Theme he's using? That has a little bit to do with what the alert symbols look like.

Okay, silly question: Has he gone through the Messages folder, and made sure to open (read) EVERY message?

If it's on top of the new mail icon, it sounds like it's saying he's got a new email/message.

That's all I can think of. Again, it'd be helpful to know a few more specifics, namely what specific BlackBerry model he's using, what version of the OS he has loaded, and what specific theme this first turned up on. That info may be crucial to figuring out exactly what's going on.

Good luck getting it sorted out.

A screenshot would be good too. The bubble is normally some kind of instant message. The yellow bubble is normally BBMessenger. Have you checked to see if there is a request in BBMessenger?

Default Another Funny Symbol

This thread is perfect. I could not figure out how to ask the right question until I stumbled into here.

My BB8700C has a the symbol of a globe with the number 1 sitting next to it. I figure it is some kind of alert to do with the internet, but I can't figure out how to respond to it.

Any help, even some terminology lessons, is appreciated.

That is a WAP push message. You signed up for it, perhaps inadvertently, through the BlackBerry Mobile site.

Just an FYI, this question has been answered before, and a search should have located the answer for you. Also, as your question was not related to the original post, you should have opened a new thread if a search did not locate a satisfactory answer for you.

Did you go on internet explorer and could not access a site, and then save the request? This might be the icon that shows it's available.

Yes. That is what happened. My carrier wasn't accessing the internet, so it offered to save the request and I said OK.

Today I learned to use "view folders" to check for other items besides e-mail. When I looked in the other folders, there was a message from my internet browser.

Thanks for the help with this funny symbol.
