Default AT&T Logo...but service says Cingular?

Please Login to Remove!

I have the 8700C....I just installed the new OS. But on my main screen cingular still shows up as my service provider. Does anyone know if this will be updated to AT&T automatically or is it something on my end?

My 8800c says AT&T on the service provider, both onscreen and at Options, Network.

The alpha tag is a per-tower setting, so not all towers have been updated to reflect the change from Cingular to at&t.

Agreed...that's why I have the best of both worlds now.
Verizon for voice
T-Mobile for Blackberry

Well, that really wasn't up to me. it was up to my company. eventually i will probably migrate to verizon both.

Everyone has issues. Before changing to another provider I would ask around your area. You may find just as many issues with another provider. Most carriers use rented tower space in areas where the city or towns have restrictions on them. This can be in a major city or out in the woods.
Bnazz, you do not list an area but it may be your isssue. ATT is using all their old towers and Cingulars. The only exception is where they had overlap. I had a Cingular tower near my house until the merger. Guess which one they decided to use, Yes ATT. Now i dont get a signal in my house, i have to get outside. A hill is between me and the tower.
Anyway I would ask around before changing to someone else
PS. My wife has Verizon and it works in the house.

Good luck and welcome to the forums

like others have said, they are slowly rolling out the "tag" updates.

if you want to expedite the process, you can make a change to your account. some people have had success by calling and updating their IMEI. others have used the web site to temporarily disable service ("lost phone") and then reactivate it a few minutes later. ymmv.

Mine did not change until I got a new SIM card, then it changed, same for our Pearl. In SoCal area.

Be very careful using the suspend option to update your alpha tag. Your BB data plan will need to be reactivated and a lot of CSR's don't seem to know what they're doing. It took three reps and over 30 minutes to take care of this after I suspended one of my BB's. My recommendation is to wait for them to roll out the update to you. It's merely a cosmetic change.
