Default 8300 Going Back Because of Calendar Synch

Please Login to Remove!

I think I will return the 8300 because of the calendar non-synch issue. I downloaded the new AT&T OS, hoping this would fix the problem. It did not. The calendar has not updated since the initial synch on Friday. I am now relying on a paper calendar, for Pete's sake!

Without the ability to synch my calendar, the device is not what I expected, and certainly not what I need. Coming from a WM smartphone, I am really disappointed. I d/n believe I spent this much time setting up my Samsung i730.

OK, I spent more time doing resets, but still. . . I am not totally ready to abandon the BB platform, so I may try an 8800.

I'm sure the issue will be corrected in the next OS update. Rogers Wireless has just launched the 8300 in Canada, I am curious if the OS is a newer version or the same as the at&t OS?!? I'm getting my Curve tomorrow so I am hoping there will be an OS update available soon!

Mine started the calendar issue today as well but when it duplicates the calendar reminders, doesnt it do it for the exact same time, so basically instead of clicking dismiss once, i click it twice in a row? Am I missing something? Is yours having a different issue then mine? It doesnt seem like that huge of a deal for now, and I use my calendar all day long.....Maybe its just me....

There's a problem report on RIM's site about calendar synch issues. I doubt it will go unfixed for long.

OK, you are fully within your rights to return the unit to AT&T.

If that was what mine was doing, I could live with it until a fix was ready.
However, my calander synch issue is different. My calendar is not reflecting changes in dates, time, locations. Basically, once a meeting is on the BB, even if I change the day, it remains unchanged on the BB.

E.g. I had an appointment Monday at 3:00. Over the weekend the appointment was changed to Thursday at 11:00. Upon synching, the BB still has the meeting for Monday and no entry for Thursday at all. Also, no calendar entries from Friday until today are being brought over. I am not having any duplicate issues.

Is this problem evident using BES?

I believe if you are running BES there are no problems with synch.

I have tried to look for an answer to this question but cannot find one. I am thinking about trading in my 8800 today for the 8300, but what is the "Calendar Issue" that everyone is talking about, some seem to have duplications when first installing, some have changing times and dates, no working reminders, is it all of the above or a mix? Also, is it just effecting BIS users or is it BES users as well? I appreciate the help, I dont want to trade in my 8800 which is running great for a train wrecked 8300.

Thanks!

I stand corrected, that issue would complicate things.....
