If you're not trying to convert encrypted DVD's why not use the Roxio Media Manager in the new Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2. Works quite well.

Ok. Well media manager works like a charm (even in Vista) for me for any normal videos but for some reason I can't get it to convert over the .tivo files. I have tried using the Direct Show Dump utility but i can't get it to work in Vista. I thought media manager was supposed to be able to just drag and drop to convert tivo files for my blackberry or am I asking too much and need to go find a different way to decode the tivo files in Vista before using media manager?

I have also tried using the Dump Show then media manager on my XP PC but the manager can't find the decoded tivo files on that one.

Please help.

Thanks for this nifty little utility, it works great. One little problem I'm having with the DVD functionality: lots of my ripped DVD's don't follow the "VTS_01_01.VOB, ...01_02.VOB, ..." format. Example, I have a movie where the video is actually in a "VTS_02_01.VOB, ...02_02.VOB, ..." list. I've even seen a few movies with a "...01_01.VOB, ...02_01.VOB, ..." list of video files. Looks like your utility is hard wired to the first type of video file list.

Also, for anyone wondering if you can use this program program on DVD's ripped to a hard drive, you can, you need to use the DOS "SUBST" command. Example, if you have a folder on your C: drive with ripped VOB files called (for example) "C:\My Movie\VIDEO_TS", you can map a drive letter from the Command Prompt as follows:

subst x: "c:\My Movie"

BBVC will then see "X:" as a DVD drive and automatically find the VOB files in the VIDEO_TS folder (VIDEO_TS is mandatory for your VOB files).

HTH.

Im about to go crazy here, I have tried all 4 methods mentioned throughout this thread and absolutely no luck with 5 different dvd's. So im going to back to the source, the very source in my question.

Is anyone able to do any of these with Vista 64-bit, that is what my computer runs....

Please help!

ok, this is wonderful if you are using windows!! Here's the kicker... I'm running linux ubuntu. I have mplayer and i can start a terminal and do everything like you say, replace <input file name> with <BrianDoesHollywood.mpeg> and <output file name> with <BrianDoesHollywood.avi> (of course the paths are part of the filename, such as /media/sharedmedia/movies/BrianDoesHollywood) and i get an error saying that the avi file doesn't exist. When i change the .avi to .mpeg, i don't get an error, but i don't get results either... What to do?

Default yep it works

Helped my friend Marcia Makepeace set it up. I love the way it works. Makes the Pearl feel like a real 21st century miracle - the center of my life my wife would say. What a transformation of the phone.

It makes encoding a DVD so easy! OMG this frontend is the, opps, can't say that.

gchez, poke around a bit. I hadn't used it before and it's pretty intuitive.

If you continue to have issues, then make a post.

Smile Help with TV DVD's

I am trying to convert Family Guy (the TV show) from the DVD's, and because the VOB files are not typical, I am only able to get the first episode using the Seabyrd software. Any help out there?

Default encoding vide with mplayer

Not to familiar with programing. Would like to know what I need to insert exactly into the command string because I have tried replacing the input string with the name of the file but it keeps telling me that the file is not found. What am I suppose to replace the input and output with? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Default almost there, I think?

I managed to get the process and I corrected the input and output issue, but this is what I get, at the end of the process, when I do the conversion.

Default Seriously where is the support for this Topic?

I'm new here and now Im thinking about leaving this forum...It seems to me that no one truly wants to help others if that person is not programer smart . There are several post from members here that are frustated with the details of how to encode videos to BB or how to watch movies on the BB or what products are needed to add/watch movies on BB's. Basiclly what apps that you know will work ?

My thought is for those that are able to view movies on your BB, its nice huh? Well other BB owners would like that option to, with some help from other members that have successfully added movies to there BB..
