Upgrading to the TIM release solved that headache.
How do I upgrade to the TIM OS?

thank you! the one question I do have (among many others, it seems like lol) is whether this TIM release (what does TIM stand for, anyhow?) is an official Blackberry OS? I'm not a technical geek, so if I download an OS and something goes haywire, I need to have the ability to call BB support and have them help me.... if I download OS they have no clue about, obviously, that would present a problem.........

TIM = Telecom Italia Mobile
It is an official BlackBerry OS. However, it is NOT the official Cingular OS, so if you do have a problem with your BB and you need to call Cingular tech support, they will not support you if you tell them you have that OS; likewise, if you take your BB in to a Cingular store for support, you could have a problem.
That said, many many BB users use other OS offered by other carriers and they work fine.

If you are not comfortable doing such, you need to reload your Cingular OS from the Cingular website:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-...downloads.html

For your issue, I think all this a great deal beyond your need, sort of like going into surgery with anesthesia for a torn finger nail.

Thank you for your quick reply! Should a problem arise (let's hope it won't anyway), I would be able to call BB with it, right?

I know that when I was having "red" problems when i first got my BB, i called CIngular and they were able to help, but the lady did say that for more involved issues (she just helped me erase the red BB OS and instal the black BB one) they usually direct ppl to BB support...... they would be able to take care of things, right?

Maybe. Cingular may tell you they don't support it and you have voided your warrenty. They may not tell you that, it is all supposition.

I added to my post above, be sure to read that.

hahah I was laughing at your analogy. Well, it's not a huge issue, but I do text a lot and it would be nice to not have to retype a ton of words.......

Let me ask this, in your earlier example of 'you' and 'tou', does not your BB give you the choice of 'you' after you have typed it? If it does, then accept that choice.

My opinion only and certainly no offense intended--> I think you need more time using and getting used to SureType and using it correctly. I am not even positive you have SureType turned on... please look at Options > Language > Input Language.. what is set there--MultiTap or US Eglish or what?

Well--if you only knew Afrikaans or had Afrikaan friends, you be in great shape.
I'm glad it worked out.
