Default Two devices to one account

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I need to connect two devices (8100 & 8800) to one account. Is there any solution besides using BIS?

I don't even think you can do it using BIS. You have to have your PIN associated with your email account - 1 PIN = 1 device.

So solution would be to set second account...

You can have one Gmail account feed two BlackBerries (BIS Setup).

I don't believe you can have a BES point two different BlackBerries to one mail account though - but I'm not a BES Admin.

You certainly can NOT have one PIN on two BlackBerries!

Didn't know that about the gmail accounts - good info (although I don't use gmail).

You're correct about the BES - can't have it point 1 account to 2 different devices.

Was the WES hangover that bad... it's really not that hard to do but you'll only get partial BB experience on the second device

Setup the "primary device" (say 8800) as normal
Setup the "secondary device" (say 8100) on a BIS plan, with an account of [email address]
Then setup a mailforward from the user account on the mailserver, from [email address] to [email address]

Hence when an email arrives into the exchange server it will feed out to the 8800 as per normal BES but will also feed out to the 8100 via BIS. Obviously the 8100 won't get PIM sync but will be able to read and reply to emails (you might want to spoof the reply-too address however) if lots of mails will be sent from this device.

however you have to ask yourself - is it really worth the effort for setup and support? Personally I'd be termpted to say 'no' to this user..
