Default BIS says IMAP?

Please Login to Remove!

I've started doing some work for the new company and they set up my Outlook using POP3 to recieve my email from them. I set up the same account on my BB and have been having issues with some emails being received some not.

I checked the account settings on the BB and on my.tmoblile.com and it says that it's IMAP not POP3. So it's set up as POP3 in Outlook and IMAP on BB.

I this part of the problem? Must it therefore be IMAP and not POP3 as I assume BB can check the server type?

Thanks for any help.

Sounds like it's a pop3 to me..... Try changing the server type in your BIS to pop and see if that solves the issue...

How do I change it though? I can't change it on the BB to POP3 nor in the tmobile.com set up. Am I missing BIS software?

Ahhhh, correct you are! I was thinking of the old BIS... It allowed you to edit the advanced settings....

Try deleting the account then re-adding it.... See if that solves the issue..

Nope deleted account on BB and recreated it. Still shows that it's set up as a IMAP4.

Not sure what else to try?

1st, I think when you enter a mail server address into BIS config, it first tries to connect via IMAP. If successful, it configures as IMAP. If unsuccessful, it tries POP and configures as that.

2nd, what's wrong with IMAP?

Nothing as far as I'm concerned - I couldn't care less as long as all my mail is going to my BB. It's just there's a discrepancy between the way I was told to set up my outlook account and what the BB is saying.

I'll cancel my POP3 account it Outlook and reset it as IMAP and see if that solves the problem.

Thanks

Hi Timc01, I had this issue a couple of months ago, and apparently the problem was with the POP server not the BIS service. I recommend that you verify with your email provider if you were having issues in the past days or try to advice them to monitor the traffic, since this issues are very hard to catch.

On the other hand if you set up IMAP is way better then POP since it will reconcile, one way from BB to IMAP server, every time to read your emails on teh BB. This happened with my server and it's was really a plus!

Regards.

Thanks - I'm now set up as IMAP on both BB and Outlook. Still only getting some of my emails on the BB. Tried to identify if there's a pattern in the missing mails but not.

The only other thing I that think of is that I have a BES account going to me BB also. One Corporate account and three personal (BIS) setups.

Anyone know if this could be casuing a conflict?
