Default Noooooo!!! the Darkness :(

Hello,
I bought my pearl in october and just last week i noticed black dot, about 1 inch in diameter right in the middle of m screen right after taking it out of the holster. I hadn't dropped, or done anything to the phone. No extreme heat/cold...nothing. I took very special care of it. Anyways, I called tmo/ashurian up and they said they're sending me a new one on tuesday. But I was wondering if this happened to anybody, or any ideas on what it might have been?

Is it on the screen itself or the actual plastic casing of the pearl?

If it's not a dead pixel or water damage then that is odd....

Yes, in fact it is a holster with a magnetic closure flap. Very good connection between the two forums that I started, Sarbin...thanks. I searched after your post but couldn't find anything...anyone else have better luck finding the forum? Although it does seem like a very probable reason(I marked where the magnet lands on the side with a pencil and took phone out of the case, and the spot was just above the magnet), I doubt that RIM would make a case that would screw the phones up. I am guessing a lot of people have this case, but I have yet to see anyone having this problem(other than the one you mentioned). Any ideas? BTW, once I do get the new phone, do you guys recommend getting a different case(although I really like this one), since this might have caused the malfunction, I don't want it to happen again.

i seem to recall that some folks were putting their pearl into the holster with the screen facing inward rather than towards the closure to protect against the magnetic 'effect'. i'll see if i can find some threads about this.

Hmm...that's odd. I have always put the pearl in facing backwards. The first time that I put the phone facing outward, the space button got tugged, so I decided to put it in backwards. (the case was designed to be used like this since there are groves for the trackball on both sides).

I put mine facing the magnetic flap and mine does not have anything. One thing I did notice, when I have my sunglasses on and look at me bb screen, there's a brown smudge that covers the top of it. I did leave it in the sunlight for about ten minutes and that's when I noticed the smudge. Now it can only be seen with sunglasses on. Weird huh...

Polarized sun glasses? Led screens are polarized, so maybe there is some weird problem between the glasses and the screen.
