I does not even ask... Boots and starts the browser right after boot looking for the OZ download... Locks up after a few seconds...

There is no OZ service book, and it is not listed in applications.... There is an icon for it though (odd, I know) and if you click on it after the initial boot / lock up sequence, it does the same... Loads browser and locks up....

Odd'ness

Hmmm... I thought it was the service book that caused OZ to get re-DL'ed after the app had been deleted from the device. Sort of a TMo 'ram it down their throats'.

"T-Mobile USA IM Client Application Download" is what I'm thinking...

2 reboots later and that issue is gone! Thanks for the help but I am at a loss as to why the book was not listed but want to find it... Then when i deleted all books and resent I am fine!

OK, my turn -- one period later (Sharks up 1-0) and a bowl of popcorn just popped, here's what I see so far.

- browser has a new "page view" and "desktop view" that are pretty neat, better than the old "preview mode"

- browser now remembers passwords! (htaccess popup style) there is a 'clear passwords' feature where you clear the cache to support this.

- media browser for pictures now has a 2-line status display at the top

- I have 2 blue folders called Instant Messaging, one fires up OZ IM, the other...well, it just shows a blank screen (empty folder?). Hid the icon, whatever.

- I think there are more White Balance options in camera setup now, I don't remember all of these from before

- I had 24meg free before on boot, now I have 30meg free. A backup decreased in size from 524K to 521K.

- 2007 DST patch is still installed -- do we still need this?

- OH JESUS LORD HALLELUJAH! I can now select alternative options in a radio button list from a generic J2ME application! This means I can finally, finally change the theme in the "Clock" program from freej2me.co.uk. This bugfix fix is an A++. This means I was just able to change the default in MidpSSH from SSH1 to SSH2. Finally.

- like LunkHead I'm having problems with SyncJe, have to beat on it a bit more

- the way SureType is displayed in various contexts is a lot better (italic for unknown/guessing, etc.) I like this a lot.

- pushing the red button while in an app launched from the icon menu returns you to the icon menu (previously in list menu, an item launched from list then red key would take you to the home screen).

- calculator UI is revamped, looks pretty cool

- battery pull bootup is a LOT faster.

The new icon menu in T-Mobile ZEN theme is taking a little getting used to, but I think I like it better than list mode; it's taking a lot less effort to get to an icon now at the expense of me having to learn what the icons are. Time to rearrange the menu again.

It's now end of 2nd period, popcorn is gone and we're are up 3-0 now. The Sharks like this upgrade too!

I just found a new feature! And one that we were looking for earlier today! How ironic....

You can now send a voice note while in BlackBerry Messenger and in a conversation with someone.

I wonder if the backup/restore process brought this back for you. I'm gonna delete the patch from my device before upgrading to see what happens. I can always add the patch file back later if needed, but I thought bby said that 4.2.1.x didn't need an explicit patch... that it was backed into the OS.
We'll see...

Thanks for all the good reports!

It definitely did -- the upgrade delete a bunch of things (plasmic_theme_reader jumped out at me) and migrated a bunch of others, and I know I saw it restore net_rim_timezone blahblahblah.

Yeah let us know what you find -- I'd love to just delete the module if I don't need it anymore...

Just did the upgrade and I am getting the browser problem also. Can't seem to get out of it. I keep getting the hourglass, even when I press the "hang up" button it won't exit the browser.

Man, a guy has to work all day and look what he misses! Lots of cool stuff in 4.2.1. I only saw one person mention the autobacklight off option. I figured there'd be lots of woots over that!

I tried deleting the DST patch during install by unchecking the box but my BES server pushed it back after a while. I just left it.

I keep getting the "uncaught exception: java.lang.classcast exception". What does this mean? I can't use my BB at all. It'll automatically jump to the browser and I can't get out of it. Guess I'll just go back to the previous version.

Did anyone notice you can now choose to have separate email and sms message folders? Go to Messages >Options >General Options and scroll to the bottom.

If you're not on BES, resend your service books from your carrier's BIS site. That seemed to fix LunkHead's browser error problems.
