Default Separate SMS/MMS and Email on 8100 Pearl

Please Login to Remove!

I've just recently switched from a BlackBerry 8700f to a BlackBerry 8100 Pearl. On the BlackBerry 8700f, SMS/MMS were stored in a separate folder to emails. However the Pearl seems to store them all in one folder.

Is it possible to change this? Ideally I would like a folder for emails and a folder for SMS/MMS.

Any ideas?

Wirelessly posted (8700c: BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Its theme specific until OS 4.2 then its option driven off the OS.

The O2 Zen theme separates emails from sms/mms.

You can do it,you need to load O2's operating system. Their theme does it as do a few others that you#ll then have access to.

Basically you download O2's latestdesktop software, then install it in your PC. Then you locate and delete a file on your PC called vendor.xml

Then you connect your Pearl to the pc, start the new Desktop software that you've just installed and it will realise that the Pearl has a different version and it will update it. When its done (be patient!) and the phone reboots if you look in Themes you'll see various different operator's themes.

See threads passim that I contributed to (purely for identification, I'm not claiming credit) for exactly how to do this.

These instructions really should be made sticky, they get asked about so often.
