Question Bluetooth transfer problems with 8800

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to transfer a MP3 to an 8800 and the file will not transfer. Both 8800s are paired.

Any suggestions?

Has anyone done this successfully?

Matt

Default Same prob w 8800<-->8100, 8800<-->Dell Axim

Nope. At least I haven't been able to transfer anything via BT between my 8800 and a friends 8100 Pearl or a company Dell Axim.

The recieve should go into their media application and select "music" then select "recieve using bluetooth". Once done, the sender can select send via bluetooth. I have had success using this transfer method between my 8800 and a 8100 and 8300.

On my 8830 I've been successful transferring pictures via BT...

After already having paired the phone/laptop with my laptop's BT software...

1. on the phone: media->photos->receive via BT
2. on the laptop: right-click->To Bluetooth->BB8830
3, back on the phone select receive directory

Doesn't work with MP3 or ringtones :( so I have to do it via USB and MediaCenter.

I can't get BB Desktop to connect via BT, but I suspect it's my corporate IT policy blocking that.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears (eyes)!

Relevantly, last night my friend yanked a bunch of my pictures via bluetooth, and he has some clamshell Nokia. All of those transfers, including a couple songs, worked fine so I see no reason why it wouldn't work between an 8800 and an 8100. MJ-bos: I have sent mp3s before - it took a while, but it worked (although it was phone to phone, not laptop to phone). I didn't do anything special though, so I don't know what to tell you.

On my 8830 I can send files. But when I receive MP3 files it says "file contains invalid characters".
I tried renaming files to simple name like a.mp3, even then same error.

I am doing everything correct (by going to media dir and selecting "receive via bluetooth).

Help please.

Talking

Open a folder...then go to ""RECEIVE VIA BLUETOOTH"

Then a pop up appears asking you to accept the bluetooth transfer.

try this method and it should work!
