I can't post URLs yet, but type in "opera for blackberry" in Google and it is the 2nd link. Good luck!

I had the same problem of trying everything and not being able to get opera 3 to work. Talked to tmobile for an hour and no help there. I then upgraded to the new cingular software posted here, deleted the vendor.xml, went through the process and amazingly opera worked just fine after that. Cant explain why, but thats what happened. Now its my preferred browser for 98% of what I do.

How do I install Opera 3.0 through Desktop Manager? I've DL'd it and it is a .rar file. If I extract it you get a .alx and .cod file. How do I get Opera 3.0 intalled on my BB Pearl from that point?

Tried media manager but not sure what I've to do now with the files / where to put them?

thanks

Finally worked out how to DL Opera 3.0 through the Desktop Manager yet it doesn't make any difference - I still have the same problems as mentioned before - load up Opera, asks me to do the test where you press buttons or the track ball, comes up on the tests, passes then states:

Failed to connect to the internet. Go to operamini.com/help with your desktop browser or contact your service provider for Internet settings.

Have tried both DL methods - same results each time: any suggestions?

I'm on Vodafone UK if that makes a difference?

I'm in the same boat as Still.Savage as mine still doesn't work.. I tried the Minuet Browser built specifically for the Pearl and it didn't connect either, so I am guessing it's something in the security settings.

don't know the APN for vodafone, but would put money on it not being the same as t-mobile! I'm sure it is around here somewhere.

yeah the apn for Vodafone UK is wap.vodafone.co.uk and the user name/password are supposed wap - according to Opera site.

have tried all different manner of combinations - pretty much giving up on Opera - unfortunately as it seems like it coud be good

have you tried leaving the name/password blank? and checking the settings in options to allow opera to access the internet? I'm sorry if those are all things you've tried, but I'm at the edge of my knowledge base here.

Anyone else as frustrated as I am with getting opera and other apps to work on a TMO Pearl????

Is there any hacks out there for the BB Browser to force full html browsing instead of the mobile pages?

THanks,
Matt

for tmobile this is how you do it...

I can't connect with my Blackberry device on T-Mobile USA

There is a specific setting required to enable an Intenet application on a T-Mobile BlackBerry to go out to the Web and not get routed into the BlackBerry network.

* Go to "Options", then "Advanced Options", then "TCP".
* Under APN, enter "wap.voicestream.com".
* Leave "Username" and "Password" blank.

done it and it works like a charm!
