I got ahold of an AT&T branded 7280 and I wanted to be able to drop my T-Mobile SIM in it when I go fishing so I don't mess up my nice Pearl. I found a shop that did it for $35. It still has the AT&T branding logo at start-up and it still says Disabled under the SIM card when using the "alt MEPD" But... Yes it works. Not only can I drop in my SIM and it works with my account but it also works with another SIM my buddy bought as pre-paid to use for now because his phone took a dump.

Thing is I'm just miffed that it still has AT&T branding logo's at start-up and still says disabled under the SIM but it freaking works! I have been reading here for some time and everyone always says it can not say disabled or it's not unlocked. Is it possible the guy that did it just switched it over to T-Mobile ? I can't wait to try another service provider on it and see.

Anyone ever seen this before??

If Network says disabled then it is unlocked. The AT&T splash screen will always be there and won't go away.

No way to change the splash screen unfortunately. Unlike my old treo (blech) I could make it whatever I wanted. Loved that part of it.
