i was wiping out the handheld earlier and the rep at cingular said it was taking too long for everything to erase. so to remove the battery. so i did. now i cant get it to load up. the screen stays on the hour glass. i tried reseting with alt clr del. the screen goes blank then goes back to the same hour glass. and even when i remove the battery hold power down for 30 second and re insert the battery the same thing happens. i NEED major helpppppppp!!!

Get ahold of a program called JL_CMDER - search for it on this forum. It contains a program that will totally wipe out the OS, applications and data.

Download the latest version of the 8700 handheld code from Cingular. Or any other version you'd like to install. Execute the downloaded program.

Locate and Delete VENDOR.XML on your PC C: Drive

Restart Desktop Manager - the OS should load

Be patient - the load/restart will take 20-30 minutes.

i have a macbook pro. not a pc but im hoping itll be the same.

im confused though, i download this program to my computer
how is it going to get my fone turned on ??

The instructions I gave you were for a PC. It is how you reload the OS on the BlackBerry. You have a Mac. I can't help you. I am moving this to the Mac Users Corner where the Mac folks may be able to help.
