Default Too many choices.. Please Help???

Please Login to Remove!

Been away for a while and had to create a new nickname... I had a 7230 and then got away from it for a while.. I was gonna go get me a 8700 but now with the talk of the 8800 I am torn. any advice would be cool. I dont like being such an early adopter but the possiblity of wifi usage is tempting me to wait.

thoughts?

is it really set to be released in late Jan? I mean I CAN wait 1 1/2 months .. LOL .. I might not WANT to . heh..

I was looking at the pearl and the 8700 and was leaning to the 8700 since it is more like my 7230... but cooler. the pearl has more wizbang stuff in it for cool / consumer and the new 8800 seems to me like a melding of the two types...

am I making sense in my thoughts?

First decide which provider you are with or want to goto based upon coverage area and then what services they provide. Secondly, think about what options you find most important. For me it is internet, email, and IM so the 8703e with VZW works fine for me.

provider is gonna be Tmo since my whole family is on it and we are going to be doing the family plan... so I got the provider picked out...

I primarily will use it for Email then IM and then web browsing. Gmail and google talk are musts and GPS map stuff would be very cool.

the wifi for some reason seems to be a draw to me since I have wifi in my house and I could just hop on my broad band connection and use other "open" (read unsecured) hotspots around town.

other than that is the 8700 the one for me or will the 8800 be "that much cooler" ?

I would go with the Pearl. I have heard a lot of good things about it. I was with TM and was very happy with the service and data pricing for the BB.

Of course, 8800 is much cooler. However, can you wait?

I was sort of in the same position.

I used a 8700g (TMO) for about 3 months and then went to the dark side with a Palm Treo....needless to say, that lasted about a week. I just picked up a Pearl (had sold my 8700g to a friend) two days ago for an awesome price ($150 brand new...TMO guy knows me)...I may very well jump to an 8800 when it's out on TMO, but need something for 'now'. I'll either keep the Pearl, sell it, or keep it as a back-up if I get the 8800.

heck I can wait if need be..
I was originally just trying to decide between the pearl and the 8700.. LOL
My original question is this...
is the pearl the newest BB of choice for TMO from functionality standpoint? I mean I am used to the 7230 Form factor and I would hate to lose any of my functionality ( EMail, IM, Pop3 Gmail) I would be getting with the 8700. Are there really any downsides to the pearl compared to the 8700?

and then the 8800 reared its ugly head and it looks like it will be released kinda soon? but would be expensive. <sigh> I always pick the perfect times to want to upgrade.. LOL If the 8800 will eclipse the pearl and the 8700 in features then I probably should wait for it I guess.

I just have reservations on the size of the pearl and common functionality between the 8700 and the pearl ( aside from suretype being a difference )

Well I'd had an 8700 before, like I said, for about 3 months. Really great device. I'd just wondered about the Pearl and liked that it had a camera and was small. I thought I'd give the trackball a try since that seems to be the future and will be present on the 8800 which I'm interested in. It's been 2 full days now with the Pearl and so far it's really neat. Love the new themes and slim factor...still adjusting to Suretype which I know I need to be patient with.
