Default Advantages Of BB Connect??

Please Login to Remove!

What are some of the advantages of having BB Connect vs. using POP or other forwarding options?

Would it be much different for current BIS users?

BB Connect allows you to have full BIS functionality, and partial BES functionality on a non-rim device. For example I love the push ,ail I had with BIS on my 8700, but needed wifi to make cheap international calls, and the ability to store/view/edit word and excel files. I bought a device and use BB Connect so I get full email like I had with my BB, but can also perform the other tasks my BB did not offer.

This will change in 4.2 on the 8700 where you will have the option to turn the BlackBerry APN off from the device but continue to have GPRS or EDGE connectivity.

Exactly that. In BIS you get the same features (just the email), in BES you get 3.6 functionality (just the email and calendar wirelessly). Really it's a step down with BES if you're running 4.x

BB connect is a very reliable email solution. i have used the nokia BB client (free on the E series) is very good. Although doesn't merge multiple email boxes into one, like on a BB.

Push email reduces bandwidth. You also get email when it comes. With Pull/Pop you will only see new email on a scheduled pull. It also uses marginally more data.

The other solution you should consider is Microsoft Push email. The advantage over BB is that your diary, tasks and everything is synced. So if you loose your device you have a full backup. Also most service provers (e.g. mail2web) give you a full web based outlook system to view your email.

I actually prefer seperate mailboxes (for work vs. personal) than everything in one mailbox on the bberry.

Love it!
