Default Weird Problem

Please Login to Remove!

I have BES 4.0 with 5 users.
All 5 users can get all their emails fine but no one can reply or create a new message.
it tries to send them but just gives the red X like the server is down.

I have upgraded exchange to the latest service pack and I have had to replace my router all about the same time so I do not know exactically what caused it.

I have incomming tcp ports 3101 and 3200 forwarded to the BES server and the firewall does not block anything outgoing that I am aware of.

any help would be great...
Thanks
Sam

Could be the BES Router service that is down. Reboot the BES.

And search this site for sending issues on E2K3 and the latest security patches. Specifically, MS released a patch that 'fixes' issues with the 'send as' processing.

Open up the failed message and there will be an error message in the subject line. "Unlisted message error" and "desktop email program unable to submit message" means you have a revoke of the Send As permission on the BESAdmin. 99% sure this is your problem.

Your right this is the problem.
I have looked everywhere and if I am doing it right the send as is checked on besadmin.
I even tried the server shutdown for 30 minutes thing with no avail.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Have a look at this MS KB article:

Users cannot send e-mail messages from a mobile device or from a shared mailbox in Exchange 2000 Server and in Exchange Server 2003

I'm seeing this problem too today on one user. The user is not a domain or enterprise admin, so the SEND AS permission is not being revoked for the BES service account. Another person set up the account and activated the device, but that person does not have AD permissions. I later went in and granted SEND AS permissions to the BES service account. I've reloaded the user account twice since then and have re-registerd the device on the wireless data network. Still no go. Anyone with any ideas? I'd hate to wipe the device and start the activation all over again.

BBQueen, I think you are confusing the end-user account with the BES Administrative account. A red X on just one user could mean that the network he/she is on is not accessible.

Hope this helps,
Pete

Go into Active Directory and load up the user you want. Go to permissions, advanced, the click on "Effective Permissions". Plop your BES admin ID there, and see if what it spits out... your account should have "Send As" writes.

Another way to test... log into a computer that has outlook as your BESadmin id. Open outlook, configure it for that user, and try to send an e-mail. If it sends, you have send-as writes
