Default Sprint 8703e slower to receive than Nextel 7520

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone else observed BB's on Sprint (the 8703e in particular) being slightly slower than on other carriers (Nextel in particular). While my BB is still very quick to receive the message, it is not in the same league as "nearly instaneous" that my old iDEN based 7520 was. Overall throughput is fine... I'm just curious if this is normal behavior based upon how Sprint handles packet data or if something got messed up when I switched.

well it should be much faster, because of way higher data speeds. have you tried surfing the web? is that slower too?

i don't seem to have a problem, but right now i only have my gmail account setup on my 8703, and i didn't have it on my 7520 with nextel.

Throughput (i.e. bandwidth) seems to be great. This is especially true when tethered to a pc.

This is more a latency issue. My guess is that the first packet to arrive (letting the BB know that there's a message) is taking longer than on the iDEN network.

This isn't so much a problem as a curiosity question. The folks at RIM don't seem to think there should be any difference at all, but there definitely is in my case.

Again, I wouldn't categorize this as a problem that I can't live with as it's still extremely quick. It's just not nearly instaneous like it was before.
