Default Can you Turn off AutoText?

Please Login to Remove!

Is there a way to turn off the auto text feature .. where it kinda jumps ahead of you typing and puts in what you MIGHT want .. this is getting very annoying when i try to type certain things outside of e-mails (which it doesn't seem to do when i try to compose e-mails) .. I just recieved my blackberry 7100i yesterday so I'm so happy right now.

I don't think there is a way to turn it off. Here's what worked for me, for the first week I just ignored the auto text. I typed whatever I was typing and then went back and corrected anything that needed correction, which turned out to be very little.

Good Luck.

I've never heard of it 'jumping ahead' to complete a word...

If you don't want the word it give you, just hit backspace (maybe twice) and it will revert to what you actually typed.

You can also delete words from AutoText if you really really don't want them.

Then you'll, in a sense, be disabling it

I don't know how this applies to e-mails, but under Options > SMS, you have the option to disable Autotext.

At least you can running an 8700 with .284...

If you are using a 7100 then I believe your complaint is about suretype not autotext. Suretype will leap ahead. Autotext will not.

Yes, hold down the * key when you're typing something.

However, then you'll be in 'multi-tap' mode so you have to hit a key twice to get the 2nd letter on that key. Like typing on a regular cell phone keypad.
