Unhappy T-Mobile 8700g mail & internet went down

Please Login to Remove!

Is anyone else experiencing this? I got my 8700g on the 17th and everything was fine. On Friday morning my e-mail stopped working as did the internet, it stayed like that all weekend until Sunday afternoon. At about 3pm that day all the e-mails that I did not get thoughout the weekend all came in at once, and the internet worked. It hapenned again today, mail/internet went down around 10 and came back around noon. I called BB tech support and they could not find the problem.

3rd time this week and still waiting on a callback from T-Mo. My patience is wearing thin.

I would say it's just the market you're in but the first two posts are across the country from eachother. I haven't noticed any outages in RI especially for an entire weekend, I might have missed a two hour period though??

Have you tried to reset the wireless connection? Sometimes it works when the internet/email gets hung up. I had the same problem several times in the past few days. I wonder if it has do with EDGE connection because I rarely had this problem with my old BB7230 using GRPS connection.

How do I reset the wireless connection? I had my T-Mobile 7230 for 2 years and never had a problem, it must be the EDGE...but it is sweet...when it works. I've had the 8700g for 8 days and 4 of those I've been w/o mail and internet. Stinks.

Click on "Turn Wireless Off" icon on home screen and wait until you see "OFF" for network connection then click on "Turn Wireless On". That did the trick for me.

I will try that dofficer, thanks! It's just amazing that even the techs at BB support can't seem to find the problem. Oh well.

No issues here over the weekend.. could your location play the part?

I remember my gf always has issue with tmobile and I don't and she lives like 12 miles away from me. When we tried to call tmobile for status or issues.. none exist in their network. *shrugs* I still can't understand why I don't have and she does

Wow... that's possibly the worst way to start your membership here at BBForums.

1) Posting off-topic
2) Not using the search feature

You're not going to get much help here with etiquette like that.

No problem here since last Thursday which was the first day I got my 8700g other than a few times times when it's internet/email is down because I'm in a weak signal area. But the "outages" are short.

I had an "outage" last night from 1 am till 6 am (i.e. an email took 5 hours to get delivered)...but I didn't try the internet on the phone.

Wow, and I thought Tmo was sooooo much better than Cingular. I've gone an hour or two on a Sunday with some tower migration, but never an entire weekend. I don't think I could function to be honest LOL.

It was quite an experience. I was in areas all weekend where I had coverage previously with my 8700g. We tried removing the battery, we tried e-mailing myself via the .tmo.blackberry.net addy and my gmail accounts, we even tried e-mailing myself though the PIN but no cigar. It's working fine now but I'm a little weary it will happen again...a little off subject but i downloaded the 4 free themes from BB Mobile and they rock! They have one called 'overlord', super!

Agreed. They're making it harder to be a T-Mo snob, that's for sure. I've had multiple RIM reps admit that the problem is on their end. But at the end of the day, my checks are made out to T-Mo. Someone needs to work this out.

Hey guys, first post. My Blackberry 8700g just arrived in the mail an hour ago, setup my contacts and decided to try some web browsing. Two problems though, first off it says "Data Connection Refused" along the top (already loaded the Zen theme, thanks for that info, btw Seattle and Jibi) which I assume is related to T-Mobile being down? Or is this something seperate and I should call them about it? Second problem is I don't see an option for internet browser anywhere. As I said I'm running the Zen theme, so I only have a few icons on my screen, but when I use the middle button to bring up the application loader I don't see it there, either. Any help for the newb?

Edit: Ok...the dorks at Letstalk.com switched the two SIM cards, so my wife's RAZR had unlimited Blackberry(I'm sure that was helpful :P ) and my phone had nada. So we just switched that around...hopefully the "Data Connection Refused" message will disappear soon...still not sure what I launch to browse the internet, though.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Got it figured out. Apparently the alx file I used to install Zen also strips out the browser. After I made my own edited alx file and reinstalled the OS it was just fine. My only question is why would anyone want to strip out the browser? Is there a better one than the default?

RIM/TMOBO is clearly having serious problems. I have had the same thing happen twice, once on Friday and twice on Monday in the NYC area. In bother cases a wireless reset DID NOT fix the problem, battery out and back in did not fix it either. I had to call tmobo and their PDA/BB tech support had to manually reset and refresh my network connection while my wireless was off. As soon as they did that I got all my qued email and PIN messages. They said if it happens a third time they will escalate the issue to RIM. I will keep you guys updated if I have the problem again.
