Default Using 7100T as laptop modem on T-Mobile? Have a question

I have read with great glee Mark Rejhon's posts on how to set up a Blackberry 7100T to work as a laptop modem on the T-mobile network.

This, despite T-Mobile telling me that it is not possible. (They don't say, "not allowed." They say, "not possible.")

I need the capability to ftp to my server. On another forum, someone wrote that using the 7100T as a laptop modem will will work with http: but not with ftp. Am wondering if you have tried that and found it to be the
case with T-Mobile?

Very appreciative of any reports on your experience ftp-ing using your Blackberry as a modem on the T-Mobile cellular network.

Also, interested in reports of speed of connection. Have read varying reports of 100 kb down to 39 kb.

Best,
kwc
