Who's running the 8700C on t-mobile?????

I think im about to buy one and have it unlocked. Just curious whos running one, and what your expierences are so far with it running on t-mo.

I have had an 8700c on TMO for about 2 months, its working just fine, There seems to be EDGE coverage all over Orange and San Diego Counties. The internet is faster than on my 7290, overall I am very happy with it.

It's basically unlock and go. I did a handheld wipe on mine because my enterprise activation wasn't working, but the BIS automatically notices the new PIN and updates everything for you more or less. It's surprisingly simple.

I am using the 8700 with a BES
3rd party apps work fine....bbSpell & Google Local
EDGE is solid in my area of NJ
Teathering works very well!

Works fine. Been using my 8700c on T-mobile since 3 days after I got it and got the unlock code. Works great,.

EDGE coverage is very good in most of LA county as well. I was on t-mo within 5 hours of buying the 8700c from the cingular store.

I haven't had too many problem in Irvine, I am in Laguna Hills at my store most of the time, but otherwise, Aliso Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, and Launga Beach are good as well! |

Been using my 8700c on T-Mo since mid-December with no issues to speak of yet. EDGE is fantastic here in the Bay Area (CA) and I absolutely love everything about the BlackBerry service with one BUT...
My 8700c has the infamous "dust" defect, which has gone from annoying (a few particles) to eyesore (a huge collection of dust). Supposedly, this device carries a 1-year warranty. However, all attempts to get this resolved have yielded nothing but frustration and have taken some of the shine off an otherwise positive experience with my first BlackBerry.
RIM says it's Cingular's problem. Cingular says it's RIM's problem. The device comes branded with both companies' names right on the front, yet neither will do anything to resolve this well known and documented defect. BarJohn (a BBF member) put me in touch with a very nice and responsive RIM rep who is looking into the matter. I appreciate this, but it's been 2 weeks now and still no resolution.
I'm posting this here (and not the Dust thread) because I've been told by both companies that if I were a Cingular customer, I would have a replacement by now. All this does is make me feel worse because after numerous phone calls to both parties, I finally understand the process. Cingular orders a replacement of behalf of the customer, but the actual replacement is done by RIM.
So why is it so hard for RIM to replace this without the Cingular middle-man? Your guess is as good as mine. But consider yourself forewarned...

tfaz1 - Thanks for the tip, but as I understand it from reading one of the other threads (maybe the dust thread), this supposedly isn't a problem anymore is it? I thought it was just a problem affecting one production line at one particular OEM? Or are you saying that someone of us could unfortunately just have the bad luck and pick up one that was produced off that line? |

I am thinking of doing this in the near future but I have one Question. When the 8700G\T comes out will I be able to wipe my phone and load the T-Mobile version of the software on it to get rid of all the Cingular branding?

Actually, you "can" sorta remove the vendor branding... I'm running v 4.10.266 modded some of the files 'blackberry.alx', etc on the mobile... Basically I can choose between cingular, orange, rogers profiles for my device... Since 4.10.266 doesn't include t-mob settings yet I can't run thier profile...but I would assume I could re-install the t-mob OS as soon as it comes out and install it if I wish...
Be careful though! If you don't know what you are doing and you screw up your device don't blame me  |
