I'm actually going to assume this is a serious question..
First - which BlackBerry and carrier do you have. It matters.
Second - you send the SMS to the phone number of the recipient. So in your Contacts, you must have at least one phone number for the person you want to send an SMS to.
Open the Compose icon. Select someone from Contacts. Click the wheel and select "SMS person". Type the message using the BB keyboard. Click the wheel and select Send.

Hi,
Sorry, I thought I was in the General Charm forum.
I have a 7100T,
The reason I was asking is that I once heard that you can have messages/information sent to your phone. News, sports...
I found a site that offers this, but you have to send an SMS message to subscribe.
Hence my question.
THanks, I'll try to figure it out.

SMS = Text Messages. I'm sure you know how to use them, correct?

This definately does not belong in this section. Just go to their name in "Contact" and choose SMS. Make sure theirnumber is programmed.. You can also go to "Use once" if they aren't programed.

I tried it on my Nextel 7510, but it doesn't have an option in the Compose to text message or SMS. Just has call person.
go figure.

It may be that you don't have SMS in your Nextel plan. All T-Mobile phones (and the 7100t is available on T-Mobile only) support SMS.

SMS is part of the GSM specification. It is not part of the Nextel (iDen) specification. It has nothing to do with the Nextel plan.
There are ways of sending text messages to Nextel customers (I don't know the address off the top of my head), but it is not "SMS" as with other phones.
