I'm looking to do a multinational Blackberry setup in which several countries operate their own Notes servers. How many BES servers would you all suggest per country? I'm asssuming that we'll have 2k or so users per country.
For the sake of discussion assume that we're discussing the US and Canada. Both countries share a common WAN.
with 2k users it's going to depend on the hardware as well as the bes ver you will be running I'm assuming you will run a bes 4.x server
some cons if you decide to connect anyone from a remote site you will experience latency due to block threads which will cause your server to not respond. a good number based on adequate hardware would be 500 users per bes if your'e running on a unix or linux system you could double that number. as long as the mail server is local to the bes 500 is a good number. keep your eye on the log files
RIM recommends having the BES in the same location as the mail server. We have mail servers in US, Canada, China, and Germany - so each site also has a BES.
