Russian Language
Please Login to Remove!
This version from Vodaphone does work and give you many languages including Russian. However, on an ATT based 9700 using 680, you lose the lock icon on the home screen, the standby button not longer works, the right key button is disabled and you cannot access your account thru media net.
So If it is Russian or ? that you want this is the OS, but be prepared to lose some functions that you have relied on. By the way, neat trick using loader exe, thanks for the tip.

I had to use BBSAK (Blackberry Swiss Army Knife) in order to update my O/S. Try that. (Google it to find a downloadable file).

Hey guys,
I just upgraded to OS v5.0.0.862 on Rogers, wirelessly. Cool!
However:
My 'standby' function seems to have been killed in the process. Now if I click the lock button the screen goes dark and it seems to do a standby lock. Anyone else experience this problem?
Thanks for responding!

Me too. I am using a 9700 roger os 380. After upgraded, I can't lock my phone with the "K" key as I used to do with previous version. The lock item on the screen has bên moved away too. The top left button hasn't worked anymore! So confuse!
I have tried so many times since then to downgraded back to my previous version but I can't!

Well, I just upgraded using the "wireless update" feature on my blackberry (on TELUS).
I was hesitant, having never done it before, but it worked flawlessly - although it took a good 20 minutes to complete.
In any event, I am not seeing any of the problems that some of you have reported on here.
The only thing I don't like, though, is the modification to the keyboard / device lock. You used to be able to hold down the A key and it would lock your phone. Now all it does is lock the keyboard. Oh well, whatever.
Here are two things I noticed that are different on this update:
- Elapsed time (when on a call) is a much larger font now
- When I play music, it actually uses the speakerphone speakers now (which it did not do before). This is great, as now I can actually "hear" the music if I don't want to use headphones.
Everything else works as it always used to - and the battery drain is also normal - so no issues there.

But if you use password protection, and enable a 1 minute timeout...you have full lock after a minute. At least you have something this way.

I'd recommend not upgrading the OS until you have the phone for a little while and see how the OS is working for you. If you don't find any issues, then there's really no need to update. As far as OS 6, no one really knows when it's going to be released for the 9700. Hopefully soon.

Well I think its official ......... for some of us anyway ........ this release is a piece of crap. I've had to downgrade my device as well as a friends. Sucks!
I'd say they got their best peeps working on OS6 and left this to the newbs. lol I could understand these issues if this were a beta, but to call it official ..... really! :o

Have you tried the .979 release? It's been pretty stable for most of us. Everything deserves at least one try right?! Haha
